Why mate? What's the driving force behind this latest brainwave.

IMO large kitchen knives are no more dangerous than small ones. Trust me, you don't have to stick a knife in very far for it to be lethal.

And small ones are easier to hide on your person (assuming that's the purpose behind the talk of the ban).

Ridiculous. 'They' ought to try coming down harder on those found using them illegally.

the proposal is to ban large kitchen knives with points as the point is not a requirement on such knives, i can see where the argument is coming from as i have never needed to use the point on a large knife

I bought a large kitchen knife from the Sunday car boot sale at Bowshaw.

The man selling them has a very wide variety and they were all made in Sheffield and all cost £1.

The trouble is, it's just too sharp!

Just about every time I use it, I find myself cutting my fingers.

Having said that, you really do need sharp knives in a kitchen.

I read this in the Metro this morning, more nannying foolishness abounds. "Lets ban pointy knives to stop stabbings" Hmmmmm Lets also ban cars to stop hit and runs, Cricket bats to stop batterings with a blunt object and rope to stop people being strangled.

I hate to quote this but "guns don't kill people, people kill people.". I imagine the same logic can be applied to pointy kitchen knives.

Its blunt knives that cut you if your using them properly as the slip on the item you are cutting.

I would advise not putting you fingers under the item to aviod future incidents.
