Do you go for your groceries armed with a list and stick to it or do you wander around willy nilly throwing things in the trolley as you go around?

I tend to do the latter, usually spending far more than I should and then returning home to find that I've forgotten something.

I really should write a list and STICK to it but there are always so many tempting offers on these days. You know how it goes......BOGOF, ooh stock up, but the veg I've bought doesn't go with these so buy extra, different veg etc etc.

Are you a diciplined and organised shopper?

I take a list if I'm skint, if not I just throw things in and end up at home scratching my head thinking 'jelly? roquefort? a purple handled can opener?' :)

I never take a list, sometimes i really wish i had as i forget everything.,
i have started to only take a certain amount of cash and leave my cards as i do tend to overspend.
i go round to co-op for pint milk and spend about £20 each time!!!!!!

I make a list of the things I can't possibly do without - bread milk tea beer :D

Then I buy all the stuff on offer, fill in with stuff that goes with it, and come home without the sugar because I didn't check the list before I left the shop :(

Does nobody else 'just do the offers'?

At the end of aisles in each supermarket lie all the two for one, half price and reduced products.
Simply nip into Sainsbury's on Archer Road and 'do the offers'.
Then next door to Tesco and do the same.
Then down to Waitrose and get the end of aisle bargains (and check for the scrummy half priced sarnies)
Then Asda out the Parkway.

You will end up with a lot of bargains (and lots of receipts that will tell you in a friendly way how much you have 'saved').

Also no doubt you will not be able to throw 1 meal together with your purchases when you get home.

What fun!

being a man, who enjoys cooking and shoping for interesting ingredients. Almost every day I make a list in one of 3 languages, and test myself with shopping efficiency at lunchtime. This procedure is both theraputic, informative, rewarding and luvely  :D

I usually shop without a list, and usually end up forgetting something....for the past three weeks it's been bin liners, so I've had to use the charity clothes bags that keep being pushed through my door.

I once went to the supermarket with a bloke who said he just wanted to buy some milk, frozen chips and bread. When we arrived, his son went and collected a large trolley, which I thought we didn't need for three items; his son just said "you'll see!".....Two hours' later, the trolley was piled high....nothing to do with me I might add.

For me, shopping of any type is a chore rather than a pleasure* therefore I always take a list with me.

The last thing I want to do is spend an hour-and-a-half driving, shopping, queueing, loading, driving, unloading, only to have to nip out again because I forgot the tomato puree

(*except when I'm on an unchaperoned visit to Toys R Us  )

I like to to write a list. I add to it throughout the week and feel very smug about how organised I am . Then I forget to take it with me so end up forgetting essentials but lots of icecream delights.

Write a list and try and fail to stick to it....

But my hubby takes this to a new level of organisation...

He places items in the trolley organised by cupboard at home. THey are then bagged at the checkout in this order to make 'putting away' when we get home a much slicker process!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:loopy:

Me - I just madly chuck stuff in the trolley, use twice as many placcy bags and then do twenty laps of the kitchen to put everything away..

P.s. all placcy bags are either reused in the home or recycled....

I write a list but then improvise when I'm there depending on what offers they've got on.

The only rule about food shopping is - NEVER do it when you're hungry!

My boyf and I go through the same routine every Saturday as we leave the flat...

HIM 'Did you bring the list?'
ME 'It's all up here' *taps head*
HIM (swears under breath as he knows food shopping will now take us twice as long)

To be honest we can never decide what to have for dinner each night anyway, so being able to browse the aisles provides us with inspiration.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it :)

I write a list if i have a recipe i want to do, otherwise i could shop with my eyes closed, i get the same boreing things every week, don't mind shopping, i hate having to come home and put it all away.
