Does anyone else agree? I have been in heaven after listening to his album Stanley Road :)

I have heard of Mr Weller before but never really comes across any of his music & now that I have I want to know everything about him ;)

Please share any information you have on the Mr HOT Weller.

Thank you

Does anyone else think he reminds you of the Gallagher brothers :headbang:

Weller is so boring he could drive Radiohead to commit suicide.

I've been a fan of mister weller for 27 years now. I'd advise investing a copy of Snap! definitely the best The Jam compliation album and I've seen it on offer somewhere this week for £3.99. There's tons of stuff on Youtube and he's fabulous live. If you want to invest in The Jam albums I'd start with All Mod Cons and work forwards then backwards.
The Style Council was really the years I grew up a true Cappucino kid. I'd not advise buying a The Style Council compilation as you don't get the true flavour it was such an experiment. Start with Introducing.... the style council if you can still get it and work forward. Of course I'd say buy the Complete Adventures (where you can also get modernism - a new decade - the unreleased album) but that's just me.
Solo stuff, Stanley Road is his best but Wild Wood also a great album. Only one I didn't like was the covers one Studio 150 - a bit bobbins really.

If you are on a budget and want all three buy hit parade but buy the DVD not the CD as you get every single release on the DVD for about £2 more whereas that's not the case on the CD:thumbsup:

Oh and his real name is John William but his dad's called John too so that's why he's Paul.

Going to shut up now as I could talk a glass eye to sleep about him.

In the sense he does a reasonable Beatles rip-off, yes. Early Jam stuff is best: Eton Rifles (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEOz7U-LVNI), Down In The Tube Station at Midnight (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGsyL6DhgPU&feature=related), Going Underground (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKglWitqtF0) are my faves of theirs.

Oh, and following on from Edna - I'd say get Sound Affects by the Jam - that's gotta be in my all time top 20 albums. And I'm a fussy bugger!

even into his forties

but now I think he looks a bit like Jimmy Saville too much.

Wish he'd stop dying his hair blonde and go back to mouse brown which suited him much better!
Look how beautiful his son is now though

O.M.G Thank you to you all for your contributions especially EdnaKrabappe the information you have provided has been really useful.

I have youtubed him & he does sound brilliant live. He definately gets a 10/10 from me.

The song "you do something to me" (He has certainly done something to me) I have tried to research as to why he wrote this song & so far I have different versions as to why he wrote this song? Do you know what this song is about or who it is about?

I will definately check out his Wild Wood album.

Mr Weller I salute you

I'm not a fan but think 'The Changingman' was one of the best hits from the 1990s.
I also like 'One Way Road' (the theme from 'Lead Balloon' ) written I think by Noel Gallagher.

I dunno. It's a very sad song for personal reasons to me and I still feel a bit uncomfortable listening to it and to add to the comments on that site, my best mate had it as her "second song" at her wedding.

I adore this live performance. The actual recording of this song by TSC is a bit fussy (and subsequently very eighties) but this strips it right back to a brilliant song
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=8oZW0mCkPqw

This is also a great song from TSC days again stripped of all it's eightiesness

However i also prefer the recorded version of Sunflower. 2:51:love: one of my favourite musical moments. Brilliant to listen to in the car.

Went to see Weller in Notts last night. As well as Weller songs he played Eton Rifles, The Butterfly collector, That's entertainment and Town called Malice of The Jam, Shout to the top of Style Council, Wishing on a star, Rose Royce even though he said everyone thinks the cover albums poo* and All you need is love Beatles.

Excellent gig with Weller on top cheery form. He looked well happy for once! Kept kissing Steve Craddock!

I wish he was kissing me. He is so gorgeous.

I quite like his version on wishing on a star he sounds very deep in thought.

I don't know why as I love Gwen Dickie's version and I love Paul Weller but the two don't marry well for me. It was the weakest point in last night's set i thought.

Apparently he and Noel are pretty good mates.

Testament to this is the fact that Paul Weller played lead guitar on 'Champagne Supernova' by Oasis.
