I treated myself to a PS3 for my bday last week....and OMG am I addicted
I have a sackboy - currently dressed as french artist.
Little Big Planet is the BEST creation EVER!!! Its sheer brilliance...
Not heard anything about it on here yet so thought Id start the thread in honour of all those SACKPEOPLE out there

You are basically in charge of a sackboy/girl...you get to dress them and decorate your home but you have to complete levels to earn news costumes/decorations...You can also earn trophies on the ps3 for doing tasks well...oh and you also get to build levels and get other online players to play along with you
Its only been out a couple of weeks (i think) but everyone is going mad for it!! I brought it and all I knew was that there was a sackperson..
I dont know why its so good it just is - pure and simple fun which makes you laugh out loud (trust me - ive had some funny looks)...
Oh and you can make your sackboy laugh, cry, look evil/annoyed and you can make him dance and wiggle his hips!!
It's a fun game, and you can make your own levels. I like it.
NEKRO138 12-11-2008, 20:36 I've got it on order should be here tomorrow. My mate's got it though and just sent me a message saying he was skipping over the king's tie. Haha!
A good ps3 exclusive at last!! its a really good game and should be no 1 in the charts but i doubt it!!

The chances of it being #1 were severely dented (alright totally obliterated) by bringing it out in the same week as Gears of War 2 (which spanked 2 million copies on 1st day of release apparently). Looks interesting as a game but still not enough to make me cough up for a PS3.
If I had a PS3 however I'd probably rent it as I don't like cutesy platformers. I'd certainly have got Resistance 2 instead.
Most gamers don't want cute little sackboys and having to design their own levels. They want guns. And blood. And gore. And chainsaws.

And the same sort of game over and over and over again. Resistance 1 or 2, Far Cry 1 or 2, Gears of War 1 or 2, Call of Duty 3 or 4 or 5. Medal of Honour 45, 67 and 78, Doom 1, 2 or 3. Bioshock. Blah blah blah.
Which is why I applaud any game that's a bit different.

I did agree to an extent with your post about all shooters being the same and then you went and spoilt it by putting Bioshock in the same cateogory which was a unique work of art as much as it was a shooter, and a piece of gaming genius.
It's all very well applauding innovative games, but if they don't sell very well (Ico on the PS2 springs to mind - unique game but nobody bought it) or are simply not as much fun to play as something like Gears 2 which is the best Multiplayer game I have ever played then it all seems to be in vain.

I like Bioshock, it has a bit of a steampunk theme going on and I like that. I also like a few other games that I mentioned.
And as for the point of a lesser bought game being in vain, I don't think that's the case for Little Big Planet. It's currently the second best selling game for PS3 on play.com so it'll be doing ok I think.
NEKRO138 21-11-2008, 08:24 Been playing Little Big Planet a while now and it is absolutely brilliant. My favourite computer game on PS3, for sure.
Going on the levels that other people have created is amazing. Some of them are so clever. If you have a PS3, you must get this game, it is absolutely incredible.
People who do not buy this game are missing out. It's been a long while since I've played something that's actually been fun and a bit different, and the scope for the user-created levels is amazing.

The user made levels are what surprised me the most. Some of them are so clever. Have you seen the one that's a remake of Tetris or the one that's a remake of R Type. How do they do it! The escape from alcatraz and Ghostbusters ones made me laugh too.

I'm not seen the tetris one yet. There's a cool one that recreates the eliminator from Gladiators, and there was one that was a Mirror's Edge recreation, but I think that may have been pulled. Very clever.

They were both still on there last night. Look for the Tetris one, it's mad. The blocks fall in and you have to get the jetpack on and lift them and swing them about to get them into the right positions. I've hardly played story mode! I just got to the Mexican skeleton wedding level.
PuressenceUK 21-11-2008, 11:45 It's currently number 19 in the all formats chart. The head of Sony marketing tried his best to hide his disappointment by stating "Well it would have been #1 game at any other time of the year".
Two things spring to mind here.
1) Don't release it in November then when it's up against games it has no chance of beating in sales.
2) If you are going to release it in peak Xmas sceduele, then don't say it will be a huge system shifter and be such a make or break title for Sony.

Maybe the publishers thought that even though it won't go to number one in the charts, it still may sell more copies during the run up to Christmas then at any other time of the year.
carolynqk 11-10-2010, 10:02 I make them for £11 each plus postage.

Different for a western market - these type of games have been big in Japan for a long time (where incidentally a lot of western type games, including some of the ones you mention above, don't make it big at all)
