Hiya!

Just wondered where people would move to if they had the choice.

Would you stay in England or move abroad? :)

If I had the cash I would take a year out and drive from alaska to florida keys. Then the year after drive down stuarts/stewarts (not sure how its spelt) highway in Australia.

Getting into all sorts of Japes and High Jinxs

Split between here SW of Sheffield in a nice house on the boarder with the Peaks or... Barcelona - Simply love it and has everything... including the sexiest women!

I'm living in France at the moment and I love it. The weather's so much better than in England which really affects what you can do, it's more civilised (no lager louts being lairy and starting fights) and in my experience the people are friendly (contrary to popular belief).

I'm coming back to Sheffield soon and I've got mixed feelings about it. Although I'll be sad to leave, I'll be really happy to be around my friends and family again, it's surprising how well you have to speak a foreign language to be able to properly get to know people and make friends. I also miss British people in general, especially their sense of humour.

Ideally I think I'd live in England but move it much further south! :)

I'd like a house out in the Peak District, with just enough land to have some chickens, a goat and uh, a vegetable patch :P :D

Turkey ,
There are still some fantastic places to live in Turkey , away from the tourist traps. The trick is to find a place NEAR a tourist trap , so you can nip in to buy newspapers or books in English or to find some English -based work.
The people are friendly , the food is tasty and healthy , the climate is great and no yobs or idiots spoiling the streets--------well except a few English football fans , who whine and cry when the police give 'em the treatment.

At the moment (and it does change frequently) I would like to live in Santa Ynez in Northern California. It's fantastic wine country and the restaurants are second to none.

This burning desire to move there might, in some way, be linked to receiving Sideways on DVD recently (note the updated signature)

:)

I'd have a house in sheffield, a villa in Italy and a flat in london WHEN i am a millionaire. Give us a couple of years though:clap:

This reminds me of yesterday's (?) thread by Nick2 about what your ideal dwelling would be, if money was no object.

I said I'd love a Tuscan villa, a palazzo in Florence or a French chateau. Failing that, a Georgian rectory somewhere in the North of England!

On reflection, however, I'd probably be very boring and go for a (lovely, big) house in Sheffield, a house in Leeds (so I could see my sister and niece more often), a house in Edinburgh (so I could see my parents more often) - and a villa in Tuscany! Ah, bliss! :)

Or is all that being too greedy?!

Peak District, White Peak area.

Close enough to Sheffield so that I can still say I live 'near' it.

Sydney.

Lived there all my life (with the exception of the past 8 months) and see myself living there for the rest of it (well, from when I finally return in Aug 06 onwards).

Can't beat the place!!

Not sure about location but I'd want somewhere right by the sea (as in you step out of the door and you're on sand)... but I wouldn't want to be somewhere too hot (but not too cold either) as I don't do sunlight very well ;)

Can't think of anything better than being able to sit outside my house and watch the sea... preferably with a laptop on a wireless connection to my pc inside so I can browse the Sheffield Forum at the same time lol :heyhey:

EDIT: just thought of something better - what I describe above, with someone I love in my arms :)

Either Canada or Scotland for me. Both has friendly down-to-earth people and the scenery is beautiful. :)

I am so sad! 9pm Friday on a Bank Holiday weekend and I am working!

Unfortunately I want it all::wow: Eyes too big!

Flat in London
Villa in South France
Beachside Villa - St Barts or St Kitts
Wooden house on the beach in California
Beachside house in Australia
Little mountain hideaway in Finland.....

Then I could have a place for any mood!

You obviously weren't there on Wednesday then! The Police and people were excellent. We made a lot of friends out there.

Back on topic though, I would want to live in Perth, Western Australia - in the city centre.

I love Perth and nearby Freemantle, but the real reason for my choice is a tiny little Island just off the coast, Rottnest.

It's my favourite place in the entire world, I'd love to be able to spend the weekends there, it would be fabulous. No cars, only the odd tour bus, tons of brilliant and different beaches, and it has it's own Indigenous animals.

I'm going to Oz for the fifth time in February, and I cannot wait!!!
