Oh goodie, then pensions should be at least that! It might stop people who should be retired having to work because their pensions aren't enough to live on. Which would then free up some jobs for the younger unemployed.

If you get paid that much to be a job seeker, I'l be getting myself the sack on purpose.

No prescription charges, no petrol getting to work, no council tax (does that get paid on jobseekers), I'll be up for £153 per week/no work

Gets the thumbs up from me.

That's all very well, but what about the single people who get nothing but £60.50 a week plus council tax allowance? I have no idea how people make a career out of job seekers allowance but it certainly does not cover anything near what is required to survive. It's well documented that pensioners live below the poverty line and they should be getting more, but what about the genuine people who want to work but can't get anything.

Hi I am claiming for myself and my partner we also have a 19 week old baby daughter and we get 94.95 a week JSA. I hate having to go and sign on and relying on the state I really want a job and to be able to work to support my daughter myself knowing that the things she has is what I have bought her with my hard earned cash. But with the "Credit Crunch" there does not seem to be that many jobs around. I applied for one job and got a letter saying that they do not want anyone now, they cannot afford to set anymore people on to work there because business is not doing so well. So before anyone jumps on my back saying that I'm a 20 year old who doesn't want to work think again because I do want to work and if anyone knows of any jobs going in retail prefarably then please pm me with details because I really want a job, as the previous post said JSA is barely enough to live on, what with christmas coming up and having family to buy for and rent and gas and electric to pay for every week, it really is becoming a strain. So if anyone knows of any jobs going pm me with details thanks in advance Angela.

Fair play to you missflirtuk, i cannot see how anybody could survive on £60.50 a week and keep a house let alone what you are on and their is 3 of you, i hope you do get a job and soon

Thanks fritz so do I, my mum has never worked since she had me and my 4 brothers and I always had to go without or wait until xmas or birthday (I don't want that for my daughter) if she needs a pair of shoes i want to be able to go and buy them and not have to wait until my benefit money comes through if you get what i mean, i dont want people to look at me and think another young kid with a baby living off the state (im 20 but im only about 4ft 11ins) and look about 12 so i do get some dirty looks off people lol

there should be a lot of retail jobs around for christmas work, but obviously its only temporary which is not much good with a family to support :(
good luck, keep positive and you'll find something good!
