I am thinking of moving to Chesterfield and wondered if anyone could give me any recommended areas to look into. I dont wanna end up in a horrible area but i dont really know where is good and where is bad.
It would just be me so it has to be safe and not too expensive. Any help please?

Brampton and Ashgate are two very nice areas in Chesterfield and they are both within about 5 to 10 mins walk of the town centre of Chesterfield. Renting in Chesterfield would also be cheaper than Sheffield.
In my opinion Chesterfield is much safer and nicer than Sheffield anyway, so you wont have any problem finding somewhere nice.
Hi Miss,
I am from Chesterfield (only moved to Sheff a year ago). The good areas are definitely Brampton and Ashgate but you will pay over the odds for a house there.
Are you planning on renting or buying? If you plan on renting then I would suggest one of the nice new developments by the Riverside. They look really nice and you can get a brand new 2 bed for £500 - seriously cheaper than in Sheffield! They are right in the town centre too.
If you are buying then the areas I would not suggest you move to are:
Clay Cross
Carr Vale
Staveley (although some parts are OK)
Boythorpe
There are another couple of areas that are bad too.
If you need any more info, send me a PM.
Cheers, Nicole
Chesterfield sounds like it's picked up a bit since my youth, 30 years back!
As a Mansfield man, we always considered Chesterfield to be a bit of a 'hard' town.
Considering that Sheffield is a city and Chesterfield a market town, I'd say Sheffield is a safer place to be.

Agree with a previous poster - don't go to Carr Vale... War zone!
Arkwright is a nice place. My mum and Grandad live here. :hihi:
Glapwell is also nice, but closer to mansfield..
