I went to petrol station on city road, filled my car up with £20, then realized I had forgot my wallet.

I phoned my Mum who came with my money.

I was wandering has it happened to you and what did you have to do?

I have known this happen and have known people have left some ID like drivers license with the staff and then return with payement later.

i worked in a petrol station once upon a time. basically when this happens they get you to leave something of value e.g mobile phone, watch etc until you come back with the cash. your reg is caught on camera as well don't forget.

someone left a small child with us once - i did protest and say the mobile would be fine but he insisted on leaving his 5 year old son and went off before i could do anything about it. His son was really scared as well - i gave him a chocolate bar and a coke and he calmed down.

Some people are just plain weird.

My mum did that once, she had nothing else of value (her phone is a brick and worth less than the petrol) so she left my little bro! dammit she went back for him too... :loopy: (he was about 20 at the time!!!!!)

I did it once near my parents. I think they recognised me as a regular, so i just wrote my name and address and went to get my wallet.

I worked in a Morrisons petrol station a few years back (not in Sheffield) and this used to happen fairly regularly (couple of times a week or so). We had a form that the customer had to fill in with their details and details of the car and then they had a week (i think) to pay or the details were handed on to the police.

I heard about a man who left his wife while he drove home for the money. Never came back!

It happened to my sister once - she'd took her purse out of her handbag to pay a bill over the phone then she left it on the kitchen table. When she went out she just grabbed her bag and called at the petrol station then after filling up realised 'NO PURSE' !!

She was just thankful she'd called for petrol first as would've been more embarrassing at the check out with a trolley full of bagged shopping and no way of paying.....

I very nearly did this today! I was on my way home and petrol was getting low so I thought I'd go into Morrisons petrol station (I've got a points card) but realised I didn't have my purse so had to turn left instead of straight on at the dual carriageway at the last minute people weren't too impressed!

Trouble is... I'm still low on petrol and I need to be able to get to college tomorrow for my exam, which reminds me, I need to go to bed, have an exam at 8:45 tomrrow!

Take care x

I always worry about that!! I check I have my wallet with me everytime, before I get out of the car.. if ever I don't check, then a wave of panic hits me just before I return the nozzle to the pump!

I haven't quite managed that one yet lol! I'd probably just leave the license behind and go and fetch the purse straight away.

I've never forgotten to bring money with me, but I have forgotten to pay. I was on my way from Cambridge to Newcastle, and stopped at some services. Filled up, went into the shop and got distracted by some of the displays. Then saw some Creme Eggs, thought "I'll have one of those", went and bought it, and left.

It didn't occur to me what I'd done until I had actually arrived in Newcastle. Luckily I was doing the return journey 3 days later, so I just arranged with the garage to go in and pay on my way back.

Never happened since, that's for sure!! :D
