Why is the government (http://icbirmingham.icnetwork.co.uk/0100news/0100localnews/content_objectid=13576337_method=full_siteid=50002 _headline=-This%2Dbomb%2Dis%2Dlegal%2D-name_page.html) not banning firework sales to the public after this? :loopy:

It stands a metre tall and weighs in at a whopping 22lbs - yet this firework is being sold legally over the counter at shops across Birmingham.

With the explosive power to do untold damage to anything - or anyone - it may hit, the Diablo is available for sale to people as young as 18.

I'm telling you something has got to be done an fast.
If people HAVE TO have there own firework display then let them go here (http://www.maylin.net/Fireworks.html).

Da B,
In myState fireworks are illegal to own or sell.
We have a big sign on the highway informing visitors.
Only problem is the woods are crammed with hunters who will fire first and ask questions later.
Dont go out without a bright orange jacket or BOOM.

Iam sick of hearing loud bangs over the last month and dit will go on to the New Year. How can you keep your pets in and watch out for them when the firework season goes on for so long:loopy:

I think people should have a licence to let fireworks off at all and they have to produce it when they buy the damn things:mad:

I used to buy fireworks for my child when he was younger but he grew out of them and was not interested. They are not a must have item and we should change our way of thinking. Too many people are damaged and for what? A few bright lights?

My Dad lives in Dronfield now after moving a few years ago from Hurlfield road.
I speak to him on the phone at least a couple of times a week and the chaos caused by fireworks leading to an aftermath of dog barking results in some very long interuptions in conversation.
From pet fear and noise alone I think these things should be better regulated.
From conversations with my Dad I have realized that this is a huge problem.
If folks cant respect other peoples privacy in the form of noise pollution then I think its time for the government/local council to step in.
What is stopping everone?why cant the authorities end the suffering?

They should bring in the same legislation to the UK.

Honestly.. if only someone would start an online petition... I'd definately sign it.

Its become the norm now to hear these so called bombs from September onwards now and to be honest this will only get worse in the years to come.
But DB is right to say that something should be done.

I don't object to fireworks in general - they're just misused like everything else *slightly* dangerous. I think banning them wouldn't help, because it would create an underground market for them, and de-regulate the sizes (although that does seem to be an issue anyway)... I reckon if they made them available to over 21s only... Would that help???

There was an article in yesterday's Observer about what the government plans to do:

Crack down on firework yobs (http://observer.guardian.co.uk/politics/story/0,6903,1076010,00.html)
