craigmason 11-11-2008, 07:14 I contacted pc world as i am after a acer 5930G to play my total war game's on and got back this reply from there sales team
Thank you for your email dated 6th November 2008. I can confirm that this we do sell the Acer aspire 5930G laptop and it is currently priced at £529.99.
so yesterday i visited the chesterfield branch to have a look at this laptop but could not find it . So i asked a member of staff who looked on the computer but could not find it. So he asked the store manager who also did not no about it. so yesterday i contacted the sales team again and this morning i got this reply
I apologise that my colleague has mistakenly provided information relating to the Acer 5920 laptop. At the time of writing, we do not stock the 5930.

I would personally spend the extra 30 quid on the dearer one, more memory.

They both have the same RAM and Hard Drive.
Where do you get "more memory"?

they have the same ammount of memory  the second has slightly better graphics card and processor, thats the one id go for, not much extra
Agreed - the more powerful processor and graphics are well worth the £30 and you'll definitely need them if you're buying the laptop to play games.
alchresearch 11-11-2008, 09:42 Doesn't one have a 256MB graphics card and the other 512MB? Maybe that's what Rich meant?
craigmason 11-11-2008, 15:21 are laptops direct and acer direct the same company as there websites are nearly identical see here

It's VAT - computer prices are often shown without the VAT as it makes them look lower - plus as a business user you claim back the VAT, so you end up paying the lower amount in the end.
craigmason 11-11-2008, 16:10 Is there any way to avoid the vat and get it for £493.59 instead of £579.97
liam1412 11-11-2008, 16:14 Unless you are VAT registered you will always have to pay the full whack. You COULD technically get some one who is a bit dodgy to send your receipt of with the VAT books at the end of the year and claim it back on your behalf. But is it worth if for 80 quid
Woooooooo lol whats wrong with pc world sales team lol i know some of the chesterfield branch and there all new pritty much. so dont judge the company by one store

PC world staff (that I know of) do sort of know what they are talking about, but are buggers if the customer doesn't know anything. As a bit of a test I went with my mum and played clueless, and the guy tried saying 512 ram was okay for Vista, and she would need norton from THEM, as AVG, and Avast are no good. :hihi:

I am not moaning about the staff in the store they were very helpful its was those people in the online sales department who gave me the wrong info

I'm sure they didn't do it deliberately.

yep i think i agree,
its normally the call centre that tends to tell customers to go to the store, and not check first,
PuressenceUK 11-11-2008, 21:16 1) Don't go to Pissy Wurld
2) Don't buy an Acer (the after sales is APPALLING)
