Hi All
Just about to make the switchover to Sky Broadband, I have existing kit in place, does anyone know how to find out the settings to enter into existing kit rather than using the router supplied.
Cheers

You have to use the "Sky router" it is pre programed, other routers will not work with Sky Broadband.
Thanks, can't understand why other routers won't work with Sky anyhow, surely its only settings.

It is only settings, but the username/password are pre-entered and invisible to the average user. If you really want to use your own router can can extract the info (see www.skyuser.co.uk) but the one supplied by Sky has been totally reliable for me.

I too can't see the relevance of your post either, I'm not in a cable area.

Thank you Old_Bloke, I just thought it might be easier to use existing equipment, also I'd heard bad reports about the netgear version of the box supplied however, I discovered it was actually a Sagem box. So will see how it goes.

I had the same misgivings as I owned a perfectly good and reliable modem/router before I moved to Sky. The supplied Sagem router has given me no problems whatsoever in the 10 months I have been using it and has allowed me to implement far more security measures on my home network than my now redundant one.
PS. Anyone want to buy a 3 yr old Zoom ADSL Modem/Router - no wireless? .... Didn't think so ;)
