Has anyone been to Morocco before and if they have, whats it like?
I have booked to go to Agadir in October for my honeymoon but having spoken to a few different people, I wish I had booked somewhere else.
I have also realised that it is Ramadam whilst i am there. Will this make a difference to restaurants, bars and tourist attractions?

I went Backpacking/camping for a month, years ago.
I went in Ramadan and to be honest, it was a bit quiet in the daytime (however Agadir is a touristy area, so you may be OK)
I remember that at sundown (I think) a siren would sound in the towns to signal the end of the Ramadan 'fast' for that day, the streets would suddenly fill up and the restaurants became packed and lively......
Be prepared for children outside your hotel gates wanting to take you to their uncles 'carpet factory' they are very insistant.... (they are on commission)
Morocco is a very poor country......

I went to Agadir about 10 years ago, at that time it was just getting started as a tourist area so it could have altered drastically.
Good points: Fantastic beaches. Interesting market (not the one in the centre of town- just outside, get a taxi to it and get a guide). Can get bargains but you MUST haggle.
Bad points: Everyone tries to rip you off - be insulting to the salesmen, only way to get rid of them. Be careful where you eat, don't go to the stalls down by the docks, worst rip off in town. If you go round the market don't let the guide take you to a so called herbalist - expensive rubbish. Beware of beggars, they are everywhere.
If you get chance go on a trip to Marrakesh, the souk (market) is like going back to biblical times but you definitely need a guide for that.
Be careful - could have got worse since 9/11.
My housemate went to Morocco two months ago. She loved it and had no problems. She spent a couple of days in Marakesh and then went to the coast. Her and her friends did it all on the fly, only finding a hotel once they were out there!
