Seedy Sunday - come along and swap seeds!

2-6pm, 16th Nov 08, Walkley Community Centre, Fir Street, S63TG (off South Road)

Growers have always known the value of saving their own seeds and passing them on to friends and neighbours. This event is a chance to be part of a network of seed savers. This year we are especially appealing for seeds with "local provenance", heirloom varieties that might have been in the family for many years and adapted to local conditions.

There will also be seed saving advice/workshop, films, refreshments and maybe even some live 'incidental' music

I've not got a lot to swop - and mostly flowers, not veg - would anyone still be interested in swopping?

Bring what you can and take what you need, that's the way it works! You never know, you might have something that no-one else has. Besides, if last year was anything to go by the 'swapping' will be more like browsing - you could always borrow a stash of seeds and bring them back (with interest!) next year, that's the beauty of it.

Thanks so much for posting this event on here - It was great to get see all the different seeds available and get some advice about how to grow them. I am sitting here now with tons of seeds to try out next year. Top of my list is Salsify, which I've never grown before, never eaten and never cooked. What could be better in life! Hope the seeds I swopped find a good home in someones garden!
