View Full Version : Warning to walkers in woodseats/meadowhead.
There is a house which is boarded up on meadowhead! At the back is kept 2 rotti dogs as guard dogs , which are being fed but not supervised Yesterday these dogs got out and attcked 1 of our clients dogs! (not while we were walking them) The police cannot do anything unless they hurt a human. the dogs were hurt but are now at home , these dogs could have killed either of dogs or both.
So please if you are walking up that way be careful. The police/dogwarden have already been informed.
Rainrescue 06-11-2008, 00:08 I thought that agressive dogs had to have a handler in charge of them?
Obviously - if you have spoken to the police - they know the law - and yes - its different if they attack a dog to a person
but
there shouldn't be 2 dogs left unsupervised
I so hope someone takes them in to a proper home environment again soon, before the poor name of the rottie gets more bad press
Is this opposite the church?
WallBuilder 06-11-2008, 05:15 I wonder if this is the same two dogs I saw outside Tesco, they were tied up and seemed nice enough but people were still [in some cases] giving them a wide berth.
Is this opposite the church?
Yes thats the one !!! I have 2 more reports but as the police will only be interested if the attack a human people concerned don't seem to feel its a priority to rport it , My concern is for all concerned , those dogs should be kept safe and not allowed to be roaming free, :(
Flourish 06-11-2008, 16:40 I hope the dog is ok that they got!!
I have seen 2 rotties been walked round Beauchief by a bloke, I wonder if is the same 2.
Glad i went the other way if it was the same 2, as mine go and say hello 2 most dogs.
The dogs are ok just shaken and have some wounds , but we haven't seen them yet as we don't walk them this week.
I have had 3 incidents reported to me about them , If they are dangerous they should be kept in safe away from anyone or animal they could harm.
SpeedDemon 06-11-2008, 18:50 Teeny, the people can be charged with "owning a dog which is dangerously out of control in a public place"

Make a complain under the dangerous dogs act (maybe to the council, not sure) dogs have to be under control when in or having access to a public space.
Keeping dogs under proper control
(1) If a dog is dangerously out of control in a public place—
(a) the owner; and
(b) if different, the person for the time being in charge of the dog,
is guilty of an offence, or, if the dog while so out of control injures any person, an aggravated offence, under this subsection.

The Police were informed but have done nothing as to this point !
One of our customers has informed them but they just gave her a crime number !!!
SpeedDemon 06-11-2008, 21:13 They need to mention to the police what i put in my previous posting. I know this can happen from previous experience. My dog never touched a human, but it did get a cat. And i was had up in court for it!
I am just phoning her now to ask her to look here and see what she can do.
angellic 06-11-2008, 22:12 Did the 2 rotties just start or was they provoked by the other dog/dogs yapping ? Is the yard they are on fenced off ?

No the dogs didn't provoke them , they flew out at them , my friend was very frightend by this incident
even if the dogs were yapping its public highway and those dogs should be supervised especially as they are left on their own and have broken out of their pens

Make another complaint, in writing, to the chief constable, make it clear that you want them to investigate the incident properly and charge someone under the dangerous dogs act and that if they don't you'll contact the IPCC.
The RSPCA have been called in by the police so hopefully they will be removed soon.
