There is another sale this Saturday - 13th June. We sell really good condition nearly new maternity baby and young children's items at fantastic bargain prices. It is at the Salvation Army, Psalter lane, Nether Edge from 11.15-12.30, though NCT members get in from 11. If you'd like to join and get those extra 15 minutes of rummaging before everyone else comes in please go to www.nct.org.uk (http://www.nct.org.uk/support-us/join)

Or you can call our enquiries line on 0844 2436259 for more details.

Hope to see you there.:D

I'm terrified of going near these sales after the horror stories of Mummy Scrummage on here :o

I went once and I'd never go again. People were like vultures and I'm only glad I didn't have my lo with me!

You'll be pleased to know then, that thanks to greater organising and more volunteers the sale is much more slick now than it was, and less of a scrummage than it has been in the past.

We operate a one way system which eases congestion, as well as have a large number of the clothes hung up on rails rather than all on table tops. In addition for those heavily pregnant among you, we offer a personal shopper service, where a volunteer will help you get to the things you specify you are interested in, and even help you carry them out too.

To make your life easier young children and prams are best left with the OH. FI you do want to bring a baby, many people bring them in a sling or carrier. :D

Last sale, in March, we actually had comments on the day from people saying how well organised and calm it was at the sale. We hope this sale is even more successful on that score.:).

Went to one of these at the Salvation Hall last year - never ever again! The one way queueing system is an absolute joke, what if you don't want to visit every room and just visit the last room? Also the idea of having to visit one desk with all your items to be added together at the end, to then be given a piece of paper to go to another desk to pay - all in the same small room whilst other people are trying to get past to get tea or coffee is another joke.

And who on earth thinks 11.15-12.30 is remotely enough time for this kind of event to take place successfully! It needs at least half a day if not the whole day for everyone to be able to attend without getting hemmed in like a herd of sheep - God forbid if a fire was to break out or something. Finally the 11.00 'early' start for NCT members is the last straw, it takes 15 mins to get past the front door! Let alone see items for sale before anyone else....

So I'm sorry for my bad feedback, but whilst I think the NCT is pretty impressive and a big help overall, this kind of event needs a lot more thinking and changing before I or my OH will be attending again.

Beanfeast, I'm really sorry that you had a bad experience last time. As I mentioned before we have improved the system and it is much less stressful this time.

However we are ALWAYS looking for people to help out to make the sale better for everyone involved, since you have lots of ideas perhaps you'd like to get involved with the Nearly New Sale committee for next time. We'd really appreciate your support to make it a smoother and more successful event for buyers, sellers & volunteers alike. Please contact Lynda on nctsale@googlemail.com to get involved :)

Thanks for the opportunity treadlightly, however I'm really not interested in participating in these events to a greater degree than waiting to get out again. ;) Of course by all means please take my ideas forwards and present them to the committee yourself. Perhaps if the usual advertisments/emails etc that are sent out advertising these events have improved longer opening times at better, larger facilities I might even consider coming along again!
