Have you considered looking for another private rented property, or talking to housing associations to see if they can help as well as just relying on the council. Even if you do get accepted as homeless and are given priority, there is such a shortage of council properties that you might be waiting some months before you are rehoused.
Me, my wife and 2 year old son was in the same boat, my wifes step dad was threatening to throw us out. So we went down to the council at howden house and told them what was happening. We managed to get on the homeless persons list even though we was not yet homeless. The guy at the council told us that we would be offerd a home within 12 weeks even though we was not yet thrown out, the fact that we was threatened with eviction was enough to get us put on the homeless persons list.
you might have to go down every day and just be a pain in the councils back side, i know you might not have the time or money to do this but some times it is the only way to get what you want with the council.
Hope you all the luck in the world and hope you get some where fast.

Why dont you try looking in the paper see if there is anywhere else you could rent maybe on a short term basis. Also make sure you keep annoying the council or they will "just forget about you". Also registered with every housing ass you can think of. then you got a better chance of finding somewhere. i know most places give you priority if you are homeless etc.. So contact everyone sooner rather than later. Hope this helps

yep i'm now in your boat! My landlady rang yesterday to say she was giving me my notice 1st of December so i have to be out for the 1st of Feb. I just don't have the money to private rent again and the bond i get back will have to go to pay back the council tax i have missed through my bloke being out of work as he is a plasterer so i'm also up that crappy street and will have to feel like no hoper begging at the council on the 1st of december!!
