View Full Version : Having more than one child - surely a sign of incurable insanity?
cosywolf 04-11-2008, 12:32 Whilst in the midst of a horrendous night-time screaming thang (mostly my sons were doing the screaming, but after 2 hours I joined in:help:) I found myself thinking: I did this once...and knowing how insanely exhausting and miserable it can be, knowing how lack of sleep can leave you brain dead and desperate, knowing how constant screaming (from the kids) can leave you smacking your head into a brick wall again and again to escape...knowing all that, I did it again anyway.
Does that make me, in fact, clinically insane? :hihi:
I think so. And as for those of you who've had more than 2:wow: - you are hopeless lunatics!
Go on, tell me we're not all mad. It doesn't mean I don't love both my evil weevils with every fiber of my being, but I think it's time I admitted to and embraced my obvious insanity:D
Oh god I'm just contemplating number 2! Maybe I should check into a clinic instead!!! :hihi:
SpeedDemon 04-11-2008, 12:42 I guess that means I've TOTALLY lost it after 5 kids! I always thought I was the sane one, and everyone else was a loony :hihi:
Yes, there is a reason Scoop jr has to make do with a labrador for a brother, and you just described them all perfctly.
Having said that, I was up for the challenge (so may be mildly insane for even considering it), but Mr Scoop was having none of it and shut up shop at the mention of trying for number 2.
loupoppins 04-11-2008, 12:49 Well don't worry ladies cause I'm still madder than you with 6 !! :loopy::hihi:
cosywolf 04-11-2008, 12:57 SpeedDemon and loupoppins, you are indeed lovely but most certainly completely out of your tree :hihi:
Corbyn and scoop, do you really think you can escape this madness forever?
Haha! No! Because those of us for whom it is too late do our best to lure in all the rest with soothing words and convincing arguments about the value of siblings...
And come on, who better to prove my point than Jabbers?
They won't let me beat my husband over the head and drag him in for the snip for 4 more months!! What are they thinking? Despite all the garlic I hung over the door and dirty nappies I've shoved under the pillow, the hormones are working their insidious black magic on me...go on, cosy, they whisper, what's one more? Just one teeny weeny more? :help:
SpeedDemon 04-11-2008, 13:20 yeah, just one more wont hurt cosy - once you've got more than 1, you're insane anyway so you may as well carry on. Come join MY world :hihi::loopy:
honeyb35 04-11-2008, 13:23 I KNEW I was insane contemplating number 2......and then number 3 sneaked in there, giving me a 1 way ticket to the nuthouse! :hihi:
cosywolf 04-11-2008, 13:25 yeah, just one more wont hurt cosy - once you've got more than 1, you're insane anyway so you may as well carry on. Come join MY world :hihi::loopy:
If Bedlam still exists, I'm booking myself in before THAT can happen...
I'm safe for a little while. The combined 6 week postnatal check/coil insertion/smear test :gag: has pretty much put paid to ANYONE having access to anything south of my waist for some time to come, LMAO.
But I can still feel those nasty little hormones trying to do their evil work on me...:suspect:
Jabberwocky 04-11-2008, 13:43 As the proud dad of five... Three here, one in Sheffield and one unfortunately no longer alive I must say that having so many children has enhanced my life. I used to be a dribbling lunatic with no regard to anything or anyone and now...
now...
Im not sure about now to be honest, I switched off years ago because of all the noise, bogeys, poo filled nappies and pointless crying- and thats only from me!
The kids are fine... fine.. really they are... I dont mind having two girls, one OH and a baby boy in the house, Im perfectly fine with them all, honest...
I just fall to my knees occasionally and scream and scream and scream because I like the attention I get when people try to get me to breathe into a brown paper bag... Plus its made me a braver man... once upon a time I was scared to death of a simple injection, now Im begging the doctors to give me a vasectomy!

In the nicest possible way, my dear :hihi:

Well, if I may use the words of Diana, Princess of Wales, you'll have to speak to my husband about that!
cosywolf 04-11-2008, 14:01 Mhmmm...mine 'put his foot down' for 3 years (isn't it cute how they fool themselves that they have some kind of power?) but in the end, he was the one who fell into the 'let's have another one' trap first :P
Jabberwocky 04-11-2008, 14:15 Here you go:
The proud dad, grinning broadly at all the joy his little darlings have brought into his life. (http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i159/Doppler1/n564318848_1518601_3031.jpg)
I was actually SOBBING when that pic was taken!

I can tell...LMAO!
Actually, you vaguely resemble Ozzy Osbourne in that pic, and look what having more than one kid did to him (no, really, it wasn't the drugs at all) :hihi:

Mojo asked me if I was having a stroke. :D
Edit:
Oh yeah and Scarby also very kindly compared me to THIS gentleman! (http://www.channel4.com/entertainment/tv/microsites/F/father_ted/pf/images/pictures/1.jpg)

I can see the resemblence :hihi::hihi:
steelerbabe 04-11-2008, 15:26 My moto is that I will only have as many kids as I have arms........ we will see if I need to grow any extra arms........
I can see the resemblence :hihi::hihi:
I was just thinking that!! :hihi:
cosywolf 04-11-2008, 16:11 My moto is that I will only have as many kids as I have arms........ we will see if I need to grow any extra arms........
I reckon that it makes sense to have two because when they run off in two different directions, there are two of you to catch them. If we had 3, one would get away, lol...
loupoppins 04-11-2008, 16:55 Mhmmm...mine 'put his foot down' for 3 years (isn't it cute how they fool themselves that they have some kind of power?) but in the end, he was the one who fell into the 'let's have another one' trap first :P
LOL my dh was adament we were done after no.2 ...... Really touching the way he thinks he has a say in any decision round here! Bless!

Well despite years of trying we haven't managed to lose one yet. Always come home with the same number we went out with ..... must work on that one!:hihi:
steelerbabe 04-11-2008, 17:13 Yeah, I am only fooling myself, when asked the classic question (if money and space were no object how many kids would you want ?) the other day, hubby very quickly replied............ 10 !!
I am very very scared !

Oh dear, I do let my husband have a say, perhaps this is where its all gone horribly wrong :(.
honeyb35 04-11-2008, 17:58 Oh dear, I do let my husband have a say, perhaps this is where its all gone horribly wrong :(.
THATS the sign of incurable insanity - letting a man have a say :hihi:

Bizarrely that was one of my biggest panics whilst pregant with my third and steelerbabes enough arms thing. Now its all gone pear shaped with my 3 year old step son and the baby added to my other two. I have been reduced to glueing their backsides to the floor whist rocking and trembleing in a corner. :hihi:

ROFL, that's soooo funny. I've never managed to lose any yet either Lou. I've also tried. Lots! lol
lauren84 04-11-2008, 21:54 I was 5 when my youngest sis was born....... there are four of us - all girls. Dunno how my mum did it. Not to mentioned how my dad coped. :hihi:
