View Full Version : Goodbye Peggy. R.I.P.
hennypenny 04-11-2008, 08:50 I had to take my little cat Peggy to the vets yesterday as she was having trouble breathing. An x-ray revealed that she had a huge tumour in her stomach and the vet said it was time to let her go.
We took her home and spent a lovely day with her, then returned her to the vets in the evening to be put to sleep.
It is amazing how very painful it is to lose a little furry person after 16 years of loving companionship.
We still have Peggy's mother, Millie, who is wandering round like a lost soul, they hadn't spent a day apart in 16 years and always snuggled together. Peggy's son Ginger seems totally oblivious to anything missing, but then he has always been a very unobservant cat.
Goodbye Peggy, we will always remember you, you were such an characterful, individual, loving and happy cat. Rest in Peace.
Plain Talker 04-11-2008, 09:13 R.I.P. Peggy.
16 is a good age to achieve, but it's no less of a wrench when you have to let them go.
You were unselfish, in allowing her to go with dignity, and compassion.
My condolences to you all.
kazads53 04-11-2008, 09:45 So sorry to hear this, keep your chin up and try to think of the good times and what a happy life she had
Kind regards ...karen
Moonbird 04-11-2008, 09:49 So sorry to hear about Peggy, 16 years is a long time to live with an animal, and no matter how much we expect it, its always really hard

MARY POPPINS 04-11-2008, 09:51 So sorry to hear about Peggy I lost my Jasper in august he was 18 no matter how old the loss is still devastating. love to you all take carexxx
sTaGeWaLkEr 04-11-2008, 10:56 So sorry to hear that Hennypenny. Losing a loved fluffy one is always difficult. :(
Someone I know set up the website 'Gone too soon' There's now a sub-section for pets, and it's proving to be quite popular.
Have a look and see if it might be for you. I popped a tribute on there for my dog - and it's actually been a bit of a comfort knowing that there's a permanent online reminder of his life.
The creator of the memorial can also add pictures and music, light candles and things - all things that might sound a bit soppy to some, but anyone who's loved a pet so much might just take comfort from the process.

know exactly how your feeling lost my cat on friday he was 20 yr old he was breathing funny i rushed him to the vets but sadly he died on the way i was heartbroken and spent ages just cuddling him , wrapped him in my daugthers fluffy throw which was pink and he was a boy but never mind , he had been part of my life for so long and never was a moments trouble i will pick up his ashes on tues , friday night was so hard i was used to cuddling up to him in bed maybe to soon for some but felt straight away that i couldnt cope without a cat in my life as tickles had given us so much as a pet i was straight down to thornberry on sat morning after looking around and feeling for all the cats i wanted the most scruffy mog that every one overlook and a older cat that had less chance than the young ones i found charlie 11yrs old and found wandering the streets covered in sores but dribbles like my old cat which the cattery woman looked at me gone out when i said oh look he dribbles like my old cat i have to have him so here charlie is loving the choice of 5 beds to sleep on fed on royal canin and purring away and very contented its like he belongs here will never forget my old cat he was very special to us but charlie will take some of the pain away and will be loved just as much
