Lavalamp tip
------------
if your lava lamp gets molten but not rising try this:-
1. turn the lamp on and leave it on all day + night till molten + very hot.
2. next turn the lamp OFF and turn the lamp UPSIDE DOWN. leave upside down all day and night till solid. (lean in the corner of a room to hold it up) when you turn it upside down do it slowly so the air bubble takes any seperated fluid trapped at the top towards the bottom joining the main body of the wax.
3. Now, 24 hours later, turn the lamp the right way up. and turn the lamp on. (dont worry about the position of the heat ring in the hunk of wax - it will settle.) leave it on for a day and it should start rising.
I guess its due to some oil part of the wax sticking to the top and without this in the main mass it doesn't get it hot enough to rise. May act like cooking oil if you like to make food get hot. So this way all the stuff that scums at the top gets merged back in.
[Never shake the lamp of course.]
