View Full Version : Saying bye to blossom :(.....Not anymore :):):)
jojomarmite 03-11-2008, 13:55 well we found blossom over two weeks ago now, reported it to the cat shelter shops local vets and no one has been in touch, however we saw a poster today saying missing kitten, and a picture of blossom. so we are going to ring them tonight. we are sooo upset, we have really bonded with her, she has settled in so well and sleeps with us. going to be so hard saying bye but i know we are doing the right thing ringing the owners, i just wish they had tried finding her earlier so we hadnt got her vaccinations and spent so much money on her. has anyone else had a similar experience? we are hoping they let us keep her as the poster said she was playing with her siblings....so they have other kittens! prob wont happen though. i am sure they will be delighted to hear she has been safe
Please let me know how you get on.
The very same thing happened a lot of years ago to my dad.
This pup just appeared in his back garden and after constant ads etc,
And 2 weeks or so of looking after her, the family appeared, and said the pup had escaped from their garden along with another pup which they got back.
This story turned out ok because the owners said because my dad had really looked after her he could keep her. And as it turned out this dog lived for 18 years and my parents loved her so much.
Hope you get to keep Blossom.
jojomarmite 03-11-2008, 15:23 yeh we are going to ring them when my boyfriend gets home from work so he can say bye. he is devastated, we both are but of course the owners prob felt like that when she went missing. should i ask them if we can keep her or is that wierd? and should i ask for the money back for the vaccination etc ( not the food or litter of course). we absolutely adore her and she is currently asleep on my head! but of course i understand that the owners will have missed her, i just hope they understand that we found her, and made the effort for them to find her.
Aw Jo,
I'm not sure to be honest - if someone found one of mine I'd want to give them something but to ask for the cost of a vacc I'm not sure, she may have been vacc'd by them as well??
Tell them you're really sorry to see her go and you'd got to know her, she'd settled in etc and if they were going to let you keep her perhaps they'd offer instead of you asking and putting them on the spot?
Good luck hun xx
jojomarmite 03-11-2008, 15:32 yeh thats what i was thinking. i didnt want it to be all awkward. i guess we will probably cry when they take her and im sure they will realise how much we cared for her! i dunno, its a sad day and im dreading ringing them but i know we have to.
jojomarmite 03-11-2008, 15:32 the funny thing is we asked our landlord if we could keep the kitten and he is going to get back to us, but if we cant we were actually going to move house. thats how much we love her!
foxyflugel 03-11-2008, 16:41 How old is she? Surely if she is only very young her owners shouldn't have let her out and about yet. If they have - then they don't derserve her back!!
Good luck - I would just ask them outright if you can keep her - or ask to buy her off them  If this fails then give an oscar winning performance of how upset you really are - worth a try. lol
jojomarmite 03-11-2008, 16:47 well she is only 12 weeks and the vet said kittens arent allowed out until they are 6 months old. on the poster it says she was playing with her siblings and they didnt realise she was unaccounted for. we have had her over two weeks and make sure she doesnt get out, all of us keeping doors shut etc. i feel we love her more than they do but obvioulsy they must love her if put posters up.im just surprised they havent phoned the cat shelter and local vets as we reported it there when we found her. goin to ring them in a few minutes. wish me luck, feel sick.
jojomarmite 03-11-2008, 16:55 just phoned them and he sounded very strange at first, and asked where we lived. before i told him i asked if we could keep her and he said yes straight away!!! that he wanted to sell them anyway, i said thank you and i am crying so much now so happy!!!cant believe it. she is ours now and i am so happy!

Don't know about the future, that's anybody's guess.
Ain't no good reason for getting all depressed.
Buy up your pad and pencil, I'll give you a piece of my mind,
In my opinionation, the sun is gonna surely shine.
Stop all your fussin',
Slap on a smile
Come out and walk in the sun for awhile.
Don't fight the feeling, you know you want to have a good time.
And in my opinionation, the sun is gonna surely shine.
That was a terrible programme (Blossom) but the theme tune somehow fits your kitty
