View Full Version : Can Eastenders be saved?
Viewers have dropped to just over six million!
I hear the Mitchells will all be back in town later this year though, and of course Kat this week.
Can anyone think of a crazy story line to get us all hooked again?
I prefered the days with Robbie, Mitchells, Ethel, Ricky and Bianca myself. Is it just me or do you think thats why Corrie always does well because of the well loved and older characters such as Ken, Deidre, Mike etc?

Yes.
They all get food poisoning off their Stinking Cockney, southern gits Eel pie.
Ousetunes 23-05-2005, 13:16 Let's hope it is beyond being saved.
This nightly half-hour of misery is nothing but garbage.
And if I hear 'drinks on the aaasss' again I'll scream.
Oiiiiiiiiiiiii!
I'm from down south!

We all have our crosses to bear.
"Can Eastenders be saved?"
God...I hope not.
the question.. can eastenders be saved, more than likely it will be, to everyone elses disapointment
Watch the ratings go through the roof when Kat Slater does a porno floor show in the Vic.. :hihi:
Well she did win sexiest female at the soap awards 2 years running, personally I don't think she's all that hot..
And no, I don't bat for the other side.
Lickable 23-05-2005, 14:29 They should turn a friendly all good person into a maniac killer, taking out a few stale characters.
Possible phsycos:
Mo
Dot
Sonya
Ian
A more plausable tea time viewing plot, would be a chain pub to be built close to the queen vic and for the vic to close for 6 months plus, only to poen again with a new image and the new owners to torch the chain.
A simple but effective twist to eastenders, would be:
Let the sun shine
Make people smile
See beyond the market
Keep a couple together, and only suffer life like problems.
Remove the 'magic' i feel depressed filter from the camera
Give walford a lottery grant to have the area turned into an 'up and coming area'
Take on a risky plot
I could go on...
metalman 23-05-2005, 21:00 Perhaps the whole area could be knocked down and redeveloped for the cross London rail link...
zombiekillah 23-05-2005, 23:16 i agree its got REALLY bad. except when phil came back n flushed ians head down the toilet   :P
the new characters cant act. its not been the same since peggy, roy , frank and barry left IMO :( and why are the new characters in it for just a few episodes? like little ruby .... one min shes in albert square and the next shes at boarding school
and id LOVE to see dot go crazy. shes the best character in it ! id love to stop watching it but im addicted. like hpllyoaks too ... i know its BAD but i just cant stop!!!!!:gag:
Apparently it's been confirmed that Ross Kemp aka Grant Mitchell is to return to the soap shortly..
I'll see if I can dig up the link for where I got the news from..
News story here (http://www.wanadoo.co.uk/entertainment/television/soap_gossipa.htm?linkfrom=entertainment_television _television_bp&link=fs2T1T_10_1Image&article=ENTtv_main)
BoppinBruce 24-05-2005, 08:24 the storyline should be that a group of real Eastenders arrive, and yes Viking, all eating Eel Pie, with pearly suits on and take over the Square.
None of them would have been in Grange Hill or Byker Grove.
Get some real life into the soap.
Viper_GTSR 24-05-2005, 17:23 Never bothered to watch it, unless forced at gunpoint (once)
Don't have any desire to ever watch it again, rather stick to comedy or action, but that's just me:)
lucyjuicy 19-06-2005, 20:02 yeah kat is bk!!! :)
I am afraid it could be going the same way as Reg inthe first episode. Yes he was depressed in the square too.
I my self has gone right off eastenders.i not watched a episode for ages.it seems to be the same all the time, and when its about to drop in viewers they bring in old characters to try and liven it up a bit,but it soon dies down and gets back into the morbid big gangster role..i do not think eastenders will be on our screens much longer.
Lickable 20-06-2005, 09:15 Eastenders will stay on TV. What they need to do is introduce the neighbouring areas of albert square.
Give the characters a bit more freedom to roam. Bring in a new restaurant, possibly a gym for eye candy, Maybe a games arcade.
Then they need to introduce a few families with few problems in life. These characaters could then help create a calm within eastenders, opening plot lines similar to those in corrie, yet still leaving the door open for a rough eastend chav plot line when needed.
The Vic really is in need of a torching. Maybe a vengful Sam could do it, or chrissie when she loses it all to the mitchells again :D
Btw... has anyone noticed that the very repetative 'sort it out' line has been replaced with an equally, if not more annoying line of 'no more ghosts'? Ironic really, when all they are doing is digging in the past.

The most scariest story line would be if grant came back and dennis had to fight to win sharon back beacuse sharon owuld of fallen in love with Grant lol!

Can eastenders be saved??
Why would you want to ???
:heyhey:
alchresearch 20-06-2005, 22:11 I read that Shane Richie is to be given £1.5 million to stay on. Talk about throwing (OUR) good money after bad.
What if the writers can't come up with any more storylines for him, will we get our money back?
The BBC have tried everything to rescue this soap with gangsters, ever more bizarre storylines, ethnic families (which only raised racial tension!) and now I believe they are experimenting with humour.
There is no law that says soaps must run forever (Brookside?). At the very least maybe they should cut back the episodes to two a week.
Don_Kiddick 21-06-2005, 00:38 WHASSGARRNAN:mad: ?
Repeat ad nauseam
Another gripping episode in the making
End it Please! It's dreary dull dumb drivell.
And always has been.
