Ousetunes

Had a nice afternoon yesterday (22/5) in the city centre. Started off in The Forum, moved onto RSVP then went to The Museum, formerly Hogshead.
Around 5 o'clock we decided we'd go and get some food. Easier said than done. We went to Lloyds No1 as there is a sign near the entrance that says Families Welcome. So in we go to be informed that they had stopped serving food at 5, and that children were not allowed in the pub unless they were eating.
Why don't they tell you this before you go in, sit down and make a right muppet of yourself?
Next to Crystal. I went to ask at the bar if kids were allowed in and whether they were serving food. Yes was the reply in both instances. So we all come in to be told it's only light-bites which was no good to us.
Next, we return to the Forum in the knowledge that it says on the menus food served till (I think but don't quote me) 8pm. Once again, we sit down to be informed that there is no food served on a Sunday evening. Once again, it would be nice to know beforehand.
Is this really the best we can do? Aren't we supposed to be hungry at 5pm. This is the city centre!!
We ended up at Piccolos which is where we'd been on Saturday night. The food was, as usual, top drawer but the result was that a meal for 2 adults and 2 kids at £40 (had we gone elsewhere) turned into a meal for £80.
