Just wondering, I spilled coke on my Sony VAIO PCG-FX501 and have acquired an advent 7082.

I don't know anything about laptop RAM and can't get into my vaio settings to find out what kind of RAM it is. The Vaio has 256mb standard and a 256mb expansion. This lappy has 2 ram slots, one in the easy access panel, another under the keyboard, It currently has 512 but 128 of that is nicked my the graphics card.

So can anyone who is tech savvy answer these question.

1. Will the ram be compatible (or how can I find out)
2. Is it easy to take the 256 out of the expansion slot on the vaio and transfer it to the advent
3. Can you give me a price and timescale if you think you can do this for me.

Sony VAIO PCG-FX501 each memory slot can hold SDRAM, PC133, 144-pin SODIMM

The Advent is 200-pin DDR-333 SODIMM memory

Why not use something like CPU-Z to see what RAM you need?

And yes, it probably wouldn't compatible. RAM's dead cheap, though, and fitting it is incredibly easy (even on laptops like mine, where you have to lift the keyboard to access half of it). Youtube generally has how-tos, and it's pretty much the eaiest upgrade to do.
