hi,

i need to get my hands on some cat5e cable (assembled, booted, preferably snagless) but in weird colours.. the reason being, i have quite a large patch job looming which requires colour coded cable, and i've run out of options! i already have:

orange
red
green
blue
black
pink
violet
purple
ivory
cream
yellow
grey

anyone know where i can get assembled patch cables in other colours? i know there aren't many options left (silver, gold, clear?) but any suggestions are appreciated..

doesn't have to be local, incidentally, it's more convenient for me to order over the phone/internet..

thanks,

rob.

they only do "standard" colours though (red, green, yellow, blue, grey), which i already have :(

i need something which is not in the list in the first post..

any other suggestions? i'm sure, in this day and age of blinged out home PCs, someone somewhere much sell crazy coloured patch cables (silver, gold, neon, etc.)??

Just wondering if the colour of the cable influences the speed the data is transfered ?

Right, I'm just a miserable bugger and ought to go back to cooking lunch :heyhey: :hihi:

This might be a stupid idea, but can't you get a few rolls of diferent coloured electrical tape, then using the colours you already have put bands of coloured electrical tape on so you make stripey colours as well..

Depending on your needs you could just add the stripe at either end.

yeah, i considered this.. problem is, i need over 100 patch cables in total of various lengths (3m, 5m and 15m) so it's not an ideal solution..

even so, keep the suggestions coming people!

thanks.

Buy some cable numbers and number them all up on both ends. Thatd probably be the easiset way to do it.

I'd love to see your comms room, must be quite a sight. Some of the places I have to work in are the pits.

I use Mayflex (http://www.mayflex.com) for all my patch leads, top quality and in all sorts of colours. Don't touch those crappy booted things myself, the Mayflex Excel ones are plain RJ45 ends with silicon-a-like cables, excellent for dressing large cabinets tidily.

again they only seem to have the usual colours.. i think i'm fighting a losing battle here, time for a rethink..

thanks for your continued help, people..

Try ringing them, they do do quite a few colours and not all details are on the website. It's the Excel unbooted patch leads you want.
