i'm trying to find an old friend of my dad's named Derek Tankard.
He would be in his late 60's early 70's. They lived at Shire Green as children. My father's name is harry drabble and at the time he lived in butterthwaite road. thanks a lot : ) helen

was his relative a nurse (also in her 60's ish now) ??

There was a family by the name 'Tankard' living on Standon Road [or maybe Standon Drive or Crescent], in Wincobank up to the mid 80s. I was around the same age as one of the boys, named Mark. This is probably of no help to you, but I saw the name and tried to 'do my bit'. Maybe they are there still there, and are related to Derek Tankard? Good luck.

thanks for your reply. my dad thinks he was an only child and as they were 8 last time they were together he is not aware of any relatives. it may help to know my dad was on crutches at the time as he had had TB.

I don't know if you will pick this up. The man you are looking for sounds like my dad. Only child, lived in the area of Sheffield you spoke about now in his mid 60's. Father was Joe and mother Viola. His mother died when he was a child and he moved to London to live with an Aunt.

This is so strange I just caught sight of your thread and one of my Mothers sisters was married to a Tankard (Lived at Masborough?) and another sister married a Drabble- I'm talking late 1930's. Strange coincidence?

I knew a Derek Tankard who attended Springfield School when I was there in the thirties and forties he lived in Broomspring Lane

I used to know a Derek Tankard. If it is the same person he lived in Herefordshire from late 78 - early 83.He was a welder by trade and his birthday is on June 30th . he would be now aged 72.I knew this person very very well.

At the time that I first knew Derek Tankard he was living with his father at Shire Green.
