With the price of inkjet printers being what the are, it may be cheaper to buy new.

I had a paper jam and pulled the paper out from the front. From then it says something about the ink cradle. I called hewlett packard and they said I had voided the warrenty as I had not moved the paper out from the back!! They say I might of bent the rollers? It cost £200 so I would rather repair before replace. Thanks

Well they could be right (as they know best) but I've never damaged a printer by pulling paper out from any angle (it usualy tears before damaging hardware). Did the page come out whole or was it torn and there could be some left in there? Also did the ink cradle message come up straight after or you left it a bit after removing the jam and you now get that message?

It was an overseas call centre too!! The paper came out whole and the message said paper jam. After much checking it then changed to say about the cradle.

Do you use it often or not? It could be the cradle has dried up where the ink passes from the cartridge to the dispenser. Just need a wet cotton bud to get that going again. Take out the cartridges and re seat them and try again, if still the same error use a wet cotton bud to dampen where the cartridge joins the cradel. But dont use too much water or you'll have to waste loads of ink diluting it.

I use it a lot when I work from home which can be about 2 days a week. I have taken the cartridges out a few times and shook but the cotton bud suggestion I shall try.

Tried the cotton bud, still does not work, it now says

The print cartridge cradle cannot move.
Please turn device power off. Check device for a paper jam or other obstruction.

However there is nothing stuck in there??

Take top off, check the paper movement mechanism. may well have paper or other crap lodged in it.

Beyond that it's not worth repairing, cheaper to replace.

You can buy parts from the HP Parts Store. They're surprisingly cheap too and easy to fit. There should be a link on www.hp.co.uk

Please don't listen to the advice about binning it.

There are little springy things that feel when a sheet of paper is there.

When pulling out a jam, it is possible to bend or force one of these into a wrong position.

Have a hunt and see what might be bent?
