The information comes directly from an MSN UK spokesman, so we must assume it's accurate.

If you look at which chatrooms are remaining open, and notice that you need a subscription and to buy some other products in order to get them, I don't think anyone is going to be fooled into believing this is out of any sort of concern for children.

From what I read, looks like it;s just their chatrooms they are closing for the safety of children, with all the net child grooming and such....

The message boards are closing. There is an option of moving over to another provider.

"They are closing the groups on 21st Feb 2009 - they are recommending people go over to http://Multiply.com - from what I can see it's another site like Facebook, Bebo etc but there are group options!" (Carolyn)

Yuku is a good alternitive. (Grahame)

It's not true. My daughter got a webpage about this sent to her looking like the real BBC page, but when you click on the news front page link it comes up with a form to make your own fake newspage.

As far as I'm aware from a message I've received recently, the private community rooms are closing in February 2009 and managers have the option to move their rooms over to Multiply with all the existing content or move them to a provider of their own choice.

I'm currently looking a various options for my own site, but thinking at the moment will go with Multiply as it'll be easier to preserve the history. If you go to your msn rooms, you'll see there's a message on the Welcome page, telling you about it.

I wonder if it was this guy......maybe he works for MSN, he's good at persuading you to change Internet Service Providings (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=M8woC9B30zE) :hihi:
