I know this has come up before but I just wanted to know has anybody had any look getting a property throught the sheffield property shop cause I have been doing this for ages now and still no luck.

I've been registered with the property shop for a year now and have been bidding every week on properties that appeal to me, but I've had nothing and I dont guess I ever will to be honest with you because I live near London.

I've seen properties that I've bid on re-advertised back on the property shop website and from speaking to people via this forum I have been informed that people with priority have been waiting many months and some infact are still waiting to get housed.

I really thought this system would be more successful in housing folk but its one long big frustrating wait, its like hitting your head against a brick wall so I know how you are feeling Deadstar.

I am gonna try and rent privately as soon as I have the finances together and hopefully once I am in Sheffield my chances may get better but I wont hold my breath.

Some of the council propertys are'nt that bad but the only reason I want one is so that in 2 years time I can buy it at a discount.

Same here, I already have a 2 bed council house and I have 9 years as a council tenant under my belt so therefore a decent discount.

I was going to take advantage of my right to buy where I am now and try and purchase my house but my house was valued at £138,000 and although I got a discount of £38,000 there was no way I could afford a £100,000 mortgage on my own that would of been financial suicide.

I cant even go in for a first time buyer mortgage because I've been told I need at least a £10,000 deposit up front.

The only way for me to get onto the property ladder is to get a council property and go in for the right to buy.

Still very frustrating isnt it.
