Hello everyone,

Just wondered if everyone was aware of the SIGN information service which is a free service based at Ryegate? It's a specialist service for children and young people with any kind of special need, plus the families and professionals who support them. The staff at SIGN, Sue and Sadia, can provide you with all kinds of information, e.g. childminders/nurseries who have experience working with kids with special needs, which children's leisure venues have good access, respite providers, benefits information, information on specific health conditions, and lots more - plus they have a library of books and dvds on a range of related topics. You can contact them at sign@sheffinfolink.org.uk, 0114 266 9476, or drop in to Ryegate Mon-Fri 10-1.

Apologies if I'm preaching to the converted, but we're trying to promote SIGN as it's a great free service and not everyone knows about them. The SIGN service is part of Sheffield Information Link - our contact details are on the signature.

Thanks for reading! Hope this is useful to someone on the boards.

Thank you. Do you need a statement to use it?

Hi Yellowrose,

No, you don't need a statement to use SIGN, the service is there for everybody. If your child (or you if you are aged under 20) has any disability, special need, health condition or you have a concern about anything related to this, SIGN will be able to assist you.

Best wishes,

Rosie (SIL)

Hi sumayyah,

No, SIGN's totally separate to the Care Pathways Team - they're a charity offering a free information service. You shouldn't have to fill out any forms either :D Just give them a bell if you have a question and they'll do their best to help.

Best wishes,

Rosie (SIL)

I have always found SIGN very friendly and informative and recommend it to all members of our group ,which is a support group for children with special needs and their families.
