just hping someone on the sf can give me abit of info on the sheffield councils inept and frustrating attempt at selling me my council house. last year we applied to buy our house at a discount rate ete. they came and valued the house , we got mortgage lined up and all the usuall thingswere done. over the last four months wev been waiting for our solicitor to contact us basically just to sign the appropriate papers ete. we now find that the sheffield council are in dispute themselves over whether our house is a house or a flat?. wev lived here 15 years and it is a four bedroom house built on three levels. it sayson the letters from them regarding the purchase of your 4 bedroom house not flat. having wasted hours on the phone to them we seem to have come to a dead end, our solicitor has chased them up but to no avail. we got a letter yesterday saying they now need to come and measure our property inside to settle there own dispute whether it is a house or a flat. does anyone out there have a four bedroom flat built on three levels with a large garden?, i think not the house is also semi detached ?. if anyone has heard of this situation or had any farcical dealings with the sheff council please put a post up.

It took us nearly a year from start to finish - and ours was 'straightforward'. A complete bunch of w******s. We had to chase them up from start to finish.

And then to top it all off, after the purchase had gone through, we had all on keeping out of the courts....... regarding the rent we hadn't paid since we bought it !!!!!!!!!!!!

But believe me, once it is yours, and the council is off your back, it's worth every penny, and more.
