I remeber this case very well I was only 13 at the time.
Two groups of kids fighting in endcliffe park and one of them. (14 year old Michael Donaldson) stabbed another to death and got life.

A lot of my mates knew him, I was wondering if he was out yet cos its been a long time.

it's got to be at least 10 years ago, surely?

i don't know what happened after the conviction.

I do remember the deceased lad's family erecting a memorial to him in "encs".

PT If I remember rightly they planted a tree in his memory on the spot where he was stabbed, which I think would be right in the middle of the present diggings in the park.

I am sure the above was true and that the death was unprovoked - wrong place, wrong time, - rather than school warfare. I seem to recall several weapons being found when the perpetrator was arrested?
I think when the school lift was built at High Storrs School, it was named in Grant's memory.

Grant is one of a list of HS pupils who tragically lost their lives, for one reason or another, whilst a member of the school.

I remember this very well, i was in the same year as michael, was not a friend of his but said hi etc. Extremely sad experience for the poor lad and his family. I have no idea if he is out though

An even sadder experience for the Jackson family, compounded when Grant's father died not so long after his son's tragedy. The two things were linked in that Mr.Jackson never came to terms with his son's death (who could blame him?) and 'hit the bottle', I believe.

Ah how very sad i didnt know that, im sure all the pupils will remember that day i for one certainly do like it was yesterday. I reckon there is alot of people thinking what ifs. Very tragic indeed.
