For those short of Northern Soul and Motown music. Great prog if you havn't didcovered it yet on Radio Stoke on 94.6 and 104.1 on Friday nights. The Mary Fox show. Also available on tinternet. Has anyone else discovered it yet?

7.00pm for 2 hours seems to have got a country wide listening in fact if you tune in now it is recorded and on all weel plus she lists a play list.

Does anyone know of Northern / Soul nights around Sheffield is it still going at Davy Social if so when and are anywhere else?

I'll be making a note of this as when I worked at a place that held Northern Soul nights and all-nighters I can honestly say I enjoyed 95% of the music and was often suprised at the staying power of the dancers who could it seemed be dancing for hours.

What club was it and was it sam's

It was under the old Abbeydale Picture Palace and was called the Kay Gee Bee. The all-nighters would run for 12 hours from 8 pm to 8 am on a saturday night. The stamina of some of the guys was amazing and the 'break dancing' look of it used to amaze me. I remember one lad dropping down backwards then kicking up with both feet, I remember it as I just happened to be walking past with a bowl of glasses that I'd collected. Basically it was a case of duck and wait for gravity to take effect on the glassware. The main DJ was a guy called Nev Wherry that I'm sure will be a very familiar name amongst Northern Soul fans. Another thing we noticed was the general friendliness of all the customers with no drunken brawls at all and a lot of the girls looked devastating.
