Watter Whelps I think that is what they were called was an pudding from years ago,can anyone remember them and tell me what they were?:confused:

When the dough for making bread had risen pieces were cut off and dropped into boiling water (like dumplings), leave for 10 minutes then flip over ,leave further 10 minutes. Place onto a plate pull open with two forks, (never cut with a knife), pour on Golden syrup and enjoy.

So, what it boils down to is WATTER (water) and (WHELP) a bitch in the process of giving birth. Strange! VERY STRANGE! But given the opportunity I’ll definitely try it.

My husband told me about these things he called watter welks that his mother made for the family (9kids) They were made from dumpling mixture dropped into boiling water and cooked then served with Jam. We made some but when I saw the (sorry about this) snotty looking dumpling covered in jam I found out I wasnt hungry,

:hihi::Just goes to show how times have changed Twirly,we would eat what we were given in the old days and be glad of it.Looking back we were fed some right concoctions,but it did us no harm and I think we were healthier than kids of today.:hihi:
