Can anyone advise me if it is possible to connect an iphone to an ipod docking station?

I have an I phone 3G. I bought a cheap Ipod, docking station with loudspeakers so I could have an additional charger for my workplace. After a couple of months it stopped charging and so I took it apart to investigate.

It has overheated inside and parts of the circuit has blown up.

So the answer is yes a standard iPod dock will work, but bear in mind that the iphone has a much more powerful battery due to all its high power features such as wi-fi and phone transmissions.
And the charging circuit may not have enough power and blow up.

The thing I had was particulary cheap at £20 and it did not advertise itself as compatible for an iphone.

Thanks mate. I could try it but the stereo system wasnt cheap and I dont want to blow it up plus it didnt advertise itself as iphone compatable.
