Just read on a piggy website some peeps talking about Brian Laws leaving Wednesday either today or tommorrow for Nottingham Forest???...

Anyone else heard this or is it just wild rumours from the interesting lot at Bumhole Lane.

Probably just rumours.. Not heard anything myfelf. Although Forest are the bigger club, and he might want a challenge so it could be true.
Why would you be searching around Blades websites? :S

i dont see why he would want to do that, surely the wednesday job is enough of a challenge for anyone

Would not blame Laws for quitting Wednesday to be honest, I'm sure Forest can better his salary and conditions. I admire what Laws has done at Hillsborough, but this seasons away form has proven that sadly he can't work miracles.

Why would he want to go to a club which are shortly going to get relegated?

That's precisely the issue.

Forest have money and a chairman.

We have neither.

Which would be more appealing to your long term future?

is he seen as one of the Forest old boys that they'd like to have back as manager (e.g. Pearce, Clough jr, O'Neill [yeah right!])... or was he one of those players there as the Clough era collapsed, and they went back to being just another club?

With what he did with a poor Owls side last season to keep them up, he could have some appeal down at Forest...and probably within their budget too. He must despair at times with the lack of movement and support at Hillsborough (from the board, not the fans).

For the same reasons that rednapp just left tottenham- there a bigger and more stable club.

I'm assuming that you mean "just left Portsmouth for Tottenham".
Don't thank me, this has been a free correction service.

I didn't realise just how tight the money was at S6...

After the failed appeal and the extra game added for Smith, Laws complained they couldn't afford the extra £750 the appeal had cost... now, they've just had a piece on Talksport (in the sports news) that the Owls players have been told that if they want to get the train down to London for Saturday's game (rather than the coach), they will have to fork out £30 of their own money to do this, as cash is so tight!

If there is even an ounce of truth in that, then unless a takeoever or cash injection happens soon, the brown stuff is going to hit the fan soon...

Yes Wednesday look doomed and will probably shut up shop, players of any calibre will not put up with low wages if they can get better at another club. If Laws goes and it looks likely he will take some players with him and the Owls will sadly hit rock bottom. Surely the players can afford to buy a car or was that a joke'

Well 'img' is not in denial here.

Wednesday are skint. We are saving money by providing the coach rather than a train.

Can't be helped, no point moaning about it.

i think wednesday will have a contract with the coach company , therefor transport has been provided once , if the players choose not to use it thats their problem . all the players might not live in sheffield anyhow .

source for which bit, Laws being unhappy with the appeal being turned down, or the players paying for the train?

the train fare is mentioned at the Star, Mail, Mirror and Eurosport...

The fine was in the star: "The appeal cost the Owls £750. "We haven't got £750 to be frivolous with," added Laws. "If you look at this case and Sheffield United's, what's the difference?

"I'm very angry. I rang the disciplinary guy back and said some strong words. I can't make it public; we're supposed to be careful in what we say and give out the right messages. I'm very disappointed with the way this has been approached; to call the appeal frivolous is ridiculous.""

Law is from the Nottingham Area i think. A fair few years back before he was a football manager he managed/owned a business. He quiet regularly came into our Nottingham based print shop ( before we moved to our current location ) wanting work done.

So he may be thinking about it as kind of going home if you get what i mean.

So its nothing to do with the fact that he's an ex forest player then ;) ;)
