Have tried sodium clorite on ivy but it is climbing over my fence from the waste land behind. Not bothered about anything growing when it's gone. What will kill the stuff please

Sodium Chlorate will kill just about anything. Dissolve it in water and water the ivy roots with it. I wouldn't recommend spreading it as a powder, unless you want a fire:rolleyes:

You can also buy high concentration glyphosate, which would be a little more environmentally friendly. If you do this, choose a dry period and water the leaves. You should see results in a couple of weeks with either method.

Good luck, it is a bugger to kill.

glysophate/round up its really good stuff but expensive,

sodium chlorate is good aslong a you persist with the spraying maybe twice a week for two weeks, definatley a cheaper way of doing it double the dose aswell on wood areas.
