NICK HARPER returns to Sheffield on April 23 2009 to play at The Boardwalk.

This will precede UK tour dates starting in March (to be announced shortly) and a new album release - his first since 2007's Miracles For Beginners.

After last year (2007) performing at the world’s highest ever gig (18,500ft at Mt Everest Base Camp) in aid of the Love Hope Strength cancer foundation, Wiltshire’s acoustic singer songwriter/guitarist NICK HARPER has just returned from a highly successful trek to the High Andes of Peru, once again in support the organisation set up by Mike Peters of rock band The Alarm to raise funds and awareness for cancer care, locally and globally. The 10-day trek, Peru Rocks, which began on October 8 2008 and followed the Inca Trail Trail from Cusco to Machu Picchu, included Nick and a team of international musicians and 55 cancer survivors and supporters.

So far, an estimated £56,000 has been raised to purchase much needed cancer screening and treatment equipment for ALINEN. ALINEN is the Supporting System for the National Neoplastic Hospital (INEN) in Peru. This equipment will go a long way in saving the lives of thousands of people battling cancer in Peru. Love Hope Strength expects the fundraising total will rise further as money flows in from trekker donations and Internet and DVD sales.
The event was once again be filmed by Alex Coletti, award winning producer/director whose past credits include the music series MTV Unplugged, 5 MTV Video Music Award shows, 2 Super Bowl Half Time shows, the KISSOLOGY DVD series, and the LHS documentary Everest Rocks (which premiered on September 7 2008 on the Palladia channel) for later TV broadcast and DVD release.

The artists who took part in Peru Rocks (who also included Mike Peters) jammed for locals along the way and spread the ashes of a cancer patient who died in May in a ceremony atop the mystic citadel. They then returned to the capital of Lima for a benefit concert last Wednesday.
