We are moving to Sheffield and I am looking for a primary school for my five year old daughter. Can you recommend me a good one in Walkley, please? Do you have an idea how long it takes from the moment you apply till the time they admit the child:confused:?

Any information will be helpful, since the education system in UK is completely new for me. Thank you:)

It depends which area of walkley you are in. These are the local schools https://eduplugins.sheffield.gov.uk/schools/ward.aspx?ward=WAK#results and details of applying to them are there too.

Thanks for the quick answer, fox20thc. The link is very helpful. Our house is between Rivelin and Walkley primary school.

I'd say you were better with Walkley school as this feeds into King Edwards Secondary. This is a much better school than Myers Grove Secondary which Rivelin feeds into. I'm sure it seems like a long way off but it's worth thinking about the future :)

Thanks roobarbpie, thinking in advance is very important when it comes to education. That’s why I am asking you for help. My questions might sound stupid but I am not familiar with this stuff:?. So, does it mean that if I prefer Walkley Primary School I can put only its name in the application? Because I have read that if you write down more than one school, there is a pretty good chance the kid to be sent in the school that is your second or third choice. I didn’t explain it very good but hope you understand me.
