hello there people
does anyone know of any parks in sheffield (centralish) that have a bandstand, or something similar....ie. an undercover area?
I want a birthday picnic, and kinda wanna organise it, start letting ppl know etc, but am a little reluctant to trust it will be good weather....
I keep thinking if I'm hopeful enough it'll be a glorious sunny day but?!!
Weston park is still boarded up.....can you sit inside the greenhouses in the Botanical Gardens?
Thanksyou!

Have you thought about having it in the bear pit at the botanical gardens. If it does decide to rain you can sit in the hole in the wall like a shivering brown bear.
Weston Park used to have an old bandstand - not sure if you can still sit under it though as it was looking a bit worse for wear last time I saw it.
why not ask around your friends to see if anyone has a fold up gazeebo thing. they are quite easy to put up:thumbsup:
Weston Park bandstand currently boarded up but due to be restored. See link below.

Personally I'd recommend the botanical gardens, but no, you can't sit in the greenhouses - you'll just have to take umbrellas if it looks like rain.

I've just thought of somewhere!!!
Going up Abbeydale road south past the Abbeydale Industrial hamlet there is the lake that powers the hamlet water wheels and then there is a little flower garden with a couple of lawns. In the corner is a structure that could at a push seat twelve people if you took a few folding chairs. Be warned though last year some prat had used it as a toilet but hopefully the smell of urine will of dissapated by now.
Kick the local scroats of the nearest Youth shelter...you will be dry under there... Only joking..
Gazzeebos are dirt cheep these days...and all the fun is getting the bloomin things up!...
Alternatinely...set up party near trees and stretch a waterproof sheet between the trees...just in case.
Or all wear white...and have an inpromtu.."Wet T-Shirt" comp...
