The question is as above. I have visited many a fish and chip shop in my life and the amount of chips you get varies considerably yet the price is the same. Similar the fish.
If you go for a meal you see on the menu 10oz steak for example for the meat so you know what you are getting.
With fish, and the batter surround the size of the fish can be considerably smaller than the purchased product. Perhaps friers should say, all our fish is 6oz or similar.
Plus I have noticed different counterstaff issue considerably different amount of chips albeit the same establishment.
Your thoughts please
(ps Dont mention this to a MEP)
no, most food served in most places does not specify the amount you receive. Steak is the exception where it often does.

Thanx for reply cyclone. I understand steak does, the question is would forumers like to see the same applied to fish and chips?
i love the batter more than anything on the fish so would like more of that...
but i think if it was sold on a weight basis then the chippies would find a way of rigging the scales so you would think your getting more!!!
No...I don't think that would be necessary...I always go to the fish and chip shop that regularly has a queue...;) it's always a sign of good prices...and good sized portions etc!!
The stingy chippies soon have to follow suit.....I like battered sausage better than fish...would you suggest they display the girth and length in inches...:hihi:
