Did anyone see this the other night?
Initially I was really interested, it said it was celebrating 'natural' women and women of various sizes and ages were collected and wittled down to 12 in the first show.
They hosed all the women down and took off all their makeup and piercings. I thought great at first as a lot of them looked really nice natural. But then I thought isn't that what model agencies do anyway? They find natural/interesting beauties and strip them of all makeup and if they have clear skin etc they are used as a blank canvas. So not so different at all and not only do these poor women have to look fab, they have to look fab without any help from makeup... even more pressure there then.
And the piercing removal- why? These women liked being a bit different and the show claimed to want individuals who loved themselves- but only of course if they conform to their ideal of that.
The girls were chastised for putting makeup back on after the hosing by heavily made-up judges!
I think there are mixed messages going out:
Ostensibly love yourself the way you are, enhance what you have, be individual and confident;
Be visually beautiful without any makeup or clothing whatsoever, rid yourself of any form of individual identity through piercings, bow and scrape for mercy from the judges but be really confident.

If Gok wants to stop this self loathing women have then why make them feel guilty for wearing make-up and worse for not being naturally beautiful?

No he is lovely, I just think they should have thought a bit more about the message going out, I mean he teaches women to love what they have and accentuate it with good clothes and makeup rather than changing themselves and then now it's makeup is baaad

He is an awful man. I wouldn`t be surprised if he secretly hates women and this is his way of humiliating them, because that`s what I see in his programmes.
And the women are fools for falling for it

Yeh its quite a contradiction. Everyone should love themselves as they are, with or without make up.

I might be a bloke but I do know that by no definition can he be called 'a god'. He makes Mr Muscle from the cleaning product advert look toned. :P

Each to their own I suppose ;)

Really love Gok on his "How to look good naked" prog, but not keen on this one. They just seem to be reverting to type, young ,slim, good looking women who the judges seem to great delight in pulling to pieces.

Really disapointed, can't understand how Gok agreed to this, thought he had more about him.
I will watch to see who wins next week, but if it's on again next year i won't be bothering to watch it.

Yes I watched it again last night and I just felt the girls were being bullied and ridiculed again, not mentored or guided or enouraged.
The women are tying themselves up in knots trying to say the 'right thing' only to have scorn poured on them. They're obviously not giving the answers they are supposed to but are being shouted at for it. After the interview with Vanessa Feltz it was "I wanted hear this, I wanted to hear that... but no" you're all rubbish basically. All were in tears at some point!
It is not making the women become natural and confident beauties but paranoid wrecks unsure of their own intelligence! He's gone right down in my estimation.

He certainly is an awful man. However, far from hating women, I believe he is a pervert who hides behind the verisimilitude of homosexuality in order to make women feel comfortable about getting naked in front of him.

The program was absolute guff. Watch this episode of Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe for a more eloquent explanation why...

"It says so on the boooooox; it says so on the boooox" :hihi:

Back on topic, my good lady never really liked Gok that much until she interviewed him for her newspaper last year, she then fell totally under his spell. He's a very nice guy apparently.

Still no excuse for this programme though.

Why can't people just keep their clothes on??!! I would not want my partner parading around the streets or on the TV naked for all to see. Gok is corrupting the morals of Western society with this filth!
