The London eye has been served with a £1M rent demand and could be faced with closure if this debt is not paid. The Eye would be removed in a month if that rent still hasn't been paid.

Personally, I can't see that happening. They are in settlement talks and it doesn't seem like a fair rent anyhow to me.

No, personally I wouldn't care but it's quite a popular tourist attraction so clearly many people would.

Sounds like greedy landowners. Grrr. Having been on the London Eye, it would be a shame to lose it. It's a fantastic experience, and a fabulous tourist attraction

Ok that's it for tonight! Off on holiday tomorrow, and really, really wanted to get to that magic number of posts tonight.
Made it!

Well done redrobbo.........have a lovely holiday. You wouldn't get me on the london eye anyhow so I dont care if it closes! BUT.....I do object to the theory that we have got you now! So pay up or else!

Certainly does sound like sheer greed. The SBC are benefiting from the additional trade the eye has attracted to the South bank.

As I understood it the local council has a fair rent committee and there's no way it would pass a rent in excess of the value of the land as 'fair'.
