View Full Version : Odd question. gcse related.
yosser_huges 19-05-2005, 23:20 Basicaly this might sound really stupid but im prepared to ask being as you dont know who i really am :P .
Is it legal to obtain copys of gcse papers from previous examinations. more specifically the 2002 papers.
Im looking for the science and maths papers. is there a legal resource for these kinds of things.
if this is against the TOS please remove if you see fit.
if anyone can point me in the right direction i would be grateful
when i was sitting exams we were given copies of old exam paper to revise with and as practice. i dont think its illegal as the exams change every year. only thing that would be illegal is trying to obtain this years!!!:suspect:

Intriguing throw-away phrase "I'm prepared to ask being as you don't know who I really am".
OK, yosser_huges, you can keep your anonymity - but can you tell us why you want copies of old GCSE science and maths papers? Surely they don't ask the same questions in subsequent years? Puzzled.
Does this help? (http://www.aqa.org.uk/admin/qp-ms_library.html)
yosser_huges 19-05-2005, 23:32 ROFL its hard to use sarcasm when you cant set a voice tone lol.
but seriously, I might sound absolutely stupid but i want to take the test myself, just to see who well i would do this year as opposed to how i did when i actually sat those exams.
yosser_huges 19-05-2005, 23:35 that link was great mate, but cant find the 2002 paper. still ill get my thinking cap on tommorow.
cheers again
Google 'gcse past papers' for more
And sarcasm is usually marked - ' ' or ' :suspect: ' or ' '

But if you have already sat these exams - surely you know what your results were?
Am I missing something, or is it me who is absolutely stupid?
yosser_huges 20-05-2005, 00:02 i know what my results are, but dont know what questions i got wrong ;). would like to see how they have changed recently by taking the test again. to see if im thicker now than i was before ;)
Im just one of those guys that are one minute watching television, then the next got some crazy idea to persue. surely im not the only one
Sheffette 20-05-2005, 06:47 I think libraries keep a stash of them as well, I seem to remember Sheffield Central Library had past papers from previous years which you can look at.

How will you know what questions you got wrong by obtaining old sets of papers and then sitting the exams again and comparing the questions against current ones? They'll be entirely different questions for a start. It doesn't make sense to me.
Surely, you can only know what questions you got wrong in your exams of several years ago if you had your marked papers returned to you - then or now?

HarrietStar 20-05-2005, 08:14 i think what they want to do, is see what grades they would have got if they had sat their exams in a differrent year to the year they did sit their exams in?
Don't suppose you know any teachers you could scrounge a photocopy off? I think that in theory if you are obtaining them from an exam board you have to pay, so you probably won't download anything - unless a kind soul on here who teaches feels like scanning in and emailing you something! (sorry, I'm not a teacher so I can't help!)

I think that this site has some of what you are looking for:
http://www.gcsemathspastpapers.com/index.htm
..they also do a science paper site (http://www.gcsesciencepastpapers.com ) but I cannot see a past paper list of questions, only a CD for sale.
If you know which exam board you want, then you can download it off their sites, exams from 2003 to date tend to be £0.70 from AQA and £1.50 from Edexcel not including p&p.Hope this helps.
