Whilst watching the BBC's Watchdog last night, I was wondering how come people still fall for all the scams doing the rounds.

Perhaps fortunately I have never fallen for one but I know people that have.

Has anyone fallen for a con/scam and if so what and how can we learn from your mistake ?

I once bought some blotting paper for £10 which turned out to be nothing more than blotting paper.

I was quite tempted with those little leaflet things that you get inside magazines; those that you scratch off the silver panels to reveal you've won a prize........and the prizes often sound very tempting; from cash prizes, cars to holidays.

However, I gather that after spending £7 on a phone call, almost everyone 'win' the holiday (usually something like a city break to Paris /Rome) but in order to 'win' the holiday, you have to fork out admin costs and extortionate holiday insurance......

I get sick and tired of those earn easy money working from home schemes. No matter where I leave my car usually I come back to find one of those leaflets stuck under my windscreen.

I used to get those under the windscreen of my older car (a cute little peasant wagon), but not with the new one.

I think the posters are trained to judge a persons social status by the car they drive; my car would often be the only one in the car park to get such 'attention' :D

Well it gives a whole new meaning to 'acid free paper'.
