View Full Version : Have you ever stolen anything?
purplepippa 28-10-2003, 02:45 Have you ever stolen anything?
If yes, was it something little (chocolate bar) or something big (TV)?
If yes, are you now ashamed? Would you do it again?
If yes, was it recently or when you were younger?
If no, what are your feelings about people who steal stuff?
I'm talking about stealing from big shops and stuff, rather than burglary or mugging.
Just wondering after a conversation with a friend!

Sorry - as far as I'm aware it can't be done. Polls are like elections - you only get one choice and one vote.

Agent Dan 28-10-2003, 09:31 I hate thieves! When they break into your house and take things that aren't really worth a lot but are very personal to you, then I think it's one of the worst crimes (I have been robbed too)...

You can have more than 1 choice in some polls, because I saw one recently that allowed it. It's not letting me edit it though

I was going to bare my soul and admit to several thousand crimes including burglary, house-breaking and other crimes against property until I saw this post.
On a more serious note, yeah, like I'm going to fess up to major blags when we have peeps like spook, a cop, reading all our posts. No-one, but no-one is going to find out about that finger of fudge back in 1967.
Ah well... erm erm,
Here goes, we did used to have a scam when I was a lot younger, basically it involved Bradleys Record Shop or any for that matter, me and my mate would buy an album from the record store, save the bag and reciept and then take an old album back saying that your mum had already bought it you. The old albums that you had taped or did not like anymore, it had to be in pristine nick so as not to give the game away. This was long before the days of itemised reciepts giving you the details of exactly what you had bought.
Worked everytime, can you forgive me?
Yeah, I had a similar scam at our local co-op before all this digital barcode nonsense. Just swap the price tags around with something cheaper and Bob's your uncle.
Heh heh. Bunch of theives!! :D
Nope I've never stolen anything cause I'm a good little hippie!! Actually I've just remembered something I stole but I've already voted!! Argh!!
I once stole an expensive pencil sharpner this awful bully at Hunter's Bar had bought from Harrods. She said it cost about three quid or summat. Anyway one day she upset me so I nicked it outta her desk and slipped it into my pocket.
I told my mum who was annoyed so I threw it over the railway line at the bottom of my garden and watched the express flatten it!! Yay!!
Is that bad??

Corrected the results for you ;)
DaBouncer 28-10-2003, 11:58 Used to do a similar scam in Virgin.
Some VHS movies were labelled up at £5.99 and the one you want is labelled up £12.99. So instead of peeling the label (cos that would be obvious), just take the movie cover and tape out of each box and switch em.
Worked everytime until some of the staff realised what was heppening and decided to install camera's over the movie section to catch the culprits. Fortunately I had told one of my mates about the scam and he was the one who got caught doing a switch when I wasn't in town. Fair to say he did a runner when confronted!
alchresearch 28-10-2003, 12:00 What about stealing from work? This hasn't been mentioned yet but a lot of people consider it OK.
I stole 1 pic & mix sweet from Woolworths when I was around 6 years old. I remember to this day because it took me about 20 minutes to pluck up the courage to actually steel it. I was still scared when I was home thinking that my mum or the police were going to find out. Didn't like the feeling and I felt bad, probably why I never became a thief.
WintersMist 28-10-2003, 15:16 Apparantly when I was about 3 or 4 my mum said I stole a packet of chewing gum from the supermarket in Woodseats.
The time I remember stealing anything was when I was about 9. Me and the family were in town shopping. We went into 'Spoils' (if anyone remembers it - plates, cups blaa blaa) and I wanted these ceramic miniture animals, a sheep and a dog I think. Anyway I asked my mum and she said no, so I stole them. I remember thinking it was easy, but after 5 mintues the guilt and the fear set in. My mum found them a week later stuffed behind my chest of drawers. She went crazy and made me feel so bad that I didnt take a biscuit from the tin without asking for the next 3 months.
God it makes me feel bad to this day. I think stealing is awful and totally wrong. My only excuse is that I was 9 and bored

Itemised bills...indeed. Just buy the CD, burn it, photocopy the lyrics and then take it back! Mind you, you can download anything now.
Does downloading things count? Just that I've been downloading films lately. It takes yonks on dial-up and the quality's poor, but I ain't paying the price for the DVDs, not until I can afford it anyway.

No and I never would. What steal,or download.
When i was a kid we used to knick the odd bottle of milk to take to school from the local high rise flats, but thats all i,m guilty of.
However as an adult i went to a night club with a couple of mates about 20 years ago and went for a curry after.
My mates then without notice jumped up and did a runner leaving me to shocked to follow them.
I was so embarrassed I offered to pay until 5 minutes after my mates came back joined up with two coppers who saw the cashier give them chase.
They were prosicuted and I did not have to pay the bill and to rub salt into there wounds they waived my cost of the meal to.
fox20thc 02-11-2005, 13:13 just fancied reviving an old thread.
I never ever ever stole anything... honest
Have you ever stolen anything? YES
If yes, was it something little (chocolate bar) or something big (TV)? Money for burgers while at school (had to "fit in!"
If yes, are you now ashamed? Would you do it again? Yes and No respectively
If yes, was it recently or when you were younger? Younger
I nearly stole a 45p TV guide from GT News in Hillsborough once, luckily I realised I'd not paid before I walked out of the shop and promptly turned round, walked back into the shop and paid for the mag.
AtticusFinch 02-11-2005, 13:55 Once or twice, but nothing really serious.
When I was about 10, I once stole an ice pop from a newsagents. This was accidental though, because my friend told me he would pay for it. I picked it up and walked out of the shop with it, assuming that he had paid for it, but he hadn't. :o
More seriously, a group of friends of mine used to rob the school tuck shop in year 10, which I was involved in. I let them use my bag to fill up with crisp packets, and they'd often fit about 20 packs in there without anyone noticing. At the time I justified it to myself that I personally wasn't stealing them (I wasn't), but it was my bag they'd use, and I'd have a few packs when everyone went to the assembly hall and divided them out. :(
I stole a lads virginity, does that count?
Seriously - my house was broken into one New Years Eve Night cos obviously if the house is empty you are bound to be out til after midnight.
I wasn't bothered about the possesions, I could replace them but I had a wedding ring that was my Nans who I'd not seen since I was 7 and when I found her when I was 22 she died less than a year later and that was all I had from her so that really P***ed me off!
They couldn't have got much for a Gold Band it was downright malicious greed.
