Does anyone know of somewhere decent to hold a wedding reception, preferably in the city centre, flexibility over menu, with room to dance and available friday 5th december?
My planned venue has gone bust so a bit frantic here, with less than 2 months to go! :o

That's awful - who has gone bust?

Good luck with finding somewhere. I'm sure you will as long as you are flexible. How many guests? Have you thought about any of the bigger restaurants in town? Platillos, Wig and Pen and Forum all cater for weddings.... and I'm sure last saturday there was one in the Ha Ha Bar! I suppose the main prob is that on a Friday night early December people will be looking to cater for the Christmas parties and will already be booking up.

Good luck!!

I've just realised I've been there for a kids birthday party. No offence but no, not my idea of a wedding reception venue lol

well you would be in the players bar for the kids party so thats nothing to do with the main rooms not even the same building lol . no offence ?
but having read this post on more than one section of the forum i thought it may have been of interest to you.
well you can try to help ?

the cruicible is closed for a refurb at the mo, but the lyceum do them. not sure on the numbers though.

Weston park museum do them too, great to keep the kids occupied as they have the run of the place:thumbsup:

You could try Blu Water on the side of the canal. Some friends of mine had a meal there for their wedding and it was lovely. They didn't have the evening reception there, we moved on to somewhere else but give them a call, I'm sure they'd be happy to help and there is a bar area so maybe they'd let you provide a disco.

Try the Dam House at Crookes - I know they do weddings and the venue is really nice

weston park museum? Where do they hold them? my daughter would love it lol. The canal is too scary.....far too many children to be that close to water! And the dam house isn't my cup of tea, although it looks very nice :)

I'm not too sure tbh!! I only know because when I went to look at the millenium galleries the lady there mentioned she was just in the middle of organising one for the next week!! If you call the museum I'm sure they'll point you in the right direction:thumbsup:

Aah very sorry to hear that lawson! im not having mine there, cant remember if it was the room hire charges or food prices that had me stumped, but its one i looked at, now havin the full day somewhere else who did us a good deal

It'll be the food prices theres no room hire charge.

And the meal is awful not worth £5 you'd get better service in mcdonalds

The buffet was nice though not much for £800 though

The wig And Pen Campo lane? Lovely decor, very cosy and has just been extended so they have private function rooms. The Paradise square dining room seats up to 50 or buffet for 75. I think you can hire the whole place out for large functions too (up to 250 I think).

I know your is over now Honey, you looked amazing BTW.....But incase anyone else is having a slighter smaller reception the Jurys Inn Hotel on Eyre Street is opening on the 16th of January !!

There are two exceptional chefs, the staff are all amazing and the hotel is stunning, nice rooms for a wedding reception, and the bedrooms are gorgeous. I am not sure of how many they can accomodate in their bigger room but I wouldnt imagine more than 100 maybe.

Just an idea if anyones interested.....xxxxxxxxx
