I remember it. There was another programme about this condition recently. It is awful for the sufferers and this recent programme showed young children with it.

I joke that my partner suffers from seasonal tourettes because in the summer he can't help but wind his window down and shout things fortunately it's not swear words he usually waves to pretend he knows someone and thinks it funny to see them wave back with a puzzled 'Who the hell is that?' look on their face. His other favourite is to shout 'You've dropped something'

Thank goodness he now has his van sign written because this has curbed his problem!!

On a serious note though for genuine sufferers of tourettes I am sure it's no laughin matter. :(

If it's a tv programme from the 70's and the same one I saw then it is actually very funny. I remember laughing at it as I had never laughed before. (Can I just say that it was before Tourettes was as widely known and I wasn't quite as 'PC' as I am now).

Having said that, I would still watch it today, as even PC people can have a sense of humour and I often think it's better to laugh at things than let them get you down.

Ps - to JBlaze - still wanna see 'Amytyville' !! Let me know! ;)

My son is 8 and has Tourettes Syndrome.

Contrary to popular belief most people don't actually have the swearing element of Tourettes which I believe is called Coprolalia. Thankfully this is not one of my sons problems.

He has various vocal tics including screaming and whistling, along with motor tics including head shaking, sticking his tongue out, opening his mouth really wide, spinning round and touching people.

It' hard for him as he is so young but he copes really well and has a good understanding of what is happening ie: it's his brain making his body do it and it's not him doing it himself.

People with Tourettes are also more likely to suffer from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and ADHD.
