I did this over a year and i lost 3.5 stone and kept it off ..without much effort. dawny1 18-05-2005, 10:55 2 months isn't long and then you are only going to fill it up again so what's the point! Be proud of your beer belly youve earned it - either that or go somewhere cold so you can keep it under wraps! Deavon 18-05-2005, 11:20 I have just started a diet too ryan123. I'm trying to loose 2 stone over the next 6 months (So perhaps not as quickly as you), but it's worth doing! Even if you don't shed your entire beer belly before you go, if you loose some weight you will feel much more confident about being semi naked in the sun! Personally my road to 'team slim' involves: Cut nearly all bread out No more alcohol (except some at weekend 1 or 2 glasses) No chocolate/sweets Sweetner in tea and coffee Drink plenty of water Move about more and - most importantly I believe: Eat nothing after 8pm each night. Good Luck!!!!:) DaBouncer 18-05-2005, 11:39 I did atkins diet and lost a stone in 4 weeks easily. If I had stuck to it more I could have lost more (and that's with little to no exercise). Since getting back from my jollies I've now started Weight Watcher. I'd say atkins diet is good for a quick fix for such as holidays coming up etc. I'm now selling my atkins books is mint condition if you want them (no worries if not.. this isn#t just a sales pitch). Selling em on the forum HERE (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=36865). Good luck with whatever you choose to do! *Ryan* 18-05-2005, 13:09 deavon, that sounds really cool!!! anyone have any idea if i got to gym and do strength training will that burn fat and add muscle?? nick2 18-05-2005, 13:12 Originally posted by ryan123 deavon, that sounds really cool!!! anyone have any idea if i got to gym and do strength training will that burn fat and add muscle?? I don't think strength training is "physical" enough to use a lot of calories up, a bit of rowing or cross-training or running might help though. Deavon 18-05-2005, 13:29 Originally posted by ryan123 deavon, that sounds really cool!!! anyone have any idea if i got to gym and do strength training will that burn fat and add muscle?? Hey ryan, I tell you what; I'm really going to stick my neck out here and let you know I currently weigh 15 stone. In 2 months time I will find your thread and update you on how much I lost. Now that's the sort of pressure I need to get results! *Ryan* 18-05-2005, 13:34 defiantely!! let me know how u do.. can i just ask.. how come u dont eat anything after 8pm? Deavon 18-05-2005, 13:49 I believe that anything you eat after this time is more likely to get stored in your body as fat, because you are winding down for the evening. You will be less active and your metabolism slows down ready for sleep. Unless you work night shifts of course in which case 8 pm will be breakfast time! (I work irregular shifts and often come home at midnight, tired, thirsty and hungry. Until recently I was cracking open a bottle of wine, making sandwhiches and spending too long on this Forum! Then sleeping on it all. Hence the need to diet). *Ryan* 18-05-2005, 13:54 that sounds like a familiar situation.. ill give it a try and definately cut down on tha kebabs, and alchohol, my nan always use to say dont eat after 8, now she makes sense :) Lotti 18-05-2005, 14:00 K, I kno I'm a girly, and it's not a beer belly, but can I still post here? My legs and bum are pretty trim, but I've noticed I'm putting weight on more on my face and tum, (which isn't right, girls normally are pear shapes) but it's because I have a colostomy so I can't exercise my tummy all that much, I've also recently stopped dancing, which I am hoping to get back to, but I've become so unfit since my disability got worse, but I used to eat a lot and dance a lot keeping it in balance but now I eat a lot and don't do anything. Can anyone think of any exercises that might be ok for me to do, you know sort of light exercises, a) for my tum and b) to get me less sluggish and a bit fitter? Thanks, Lottie *Ryan* 18-05-2005, 14:07 can i jus say thanks to dawny1 4 the confidence booster, hi lotti, can i jus ask, what is colostomy? sometimes ive realised it all not a case of excercising, but eating the right stuff, and as ive noticed when i went to gym bout a year ago and slightly morenow i am excersing muscles around my 'tummy' then makes stuff more defined, do u go to a gym? to make u less sluggish the best thing is cardiovascular i guess.. GazB 18-05-2005, 14:57 Cut out on garbage food (take-aways, chocolate, sweets, etc) Drink lots of water (3L + a day) Have at least 8 hours kip a night Try not to stress out Don't eat any complex carbs after 5pm (spuds, pasta etc). Training: For fat loss, stick with CV work. Jogging Cycling Rowing Then do press-ups, sit-ups, squats. If you have one, use a punch bag for a good 20 minutes. You can buy fat burners that basically raise your metabolism, enabling you to burn fat quicker and they also fill you with energy. For the past 2 months I've done no fitness work at all (except playing some footy) as I wanted to add more growth to my arms and shoulders. I was on a supplement called Tri-Matrix V2.. With just less than 2 months to my holiday now, I'm back to boxing and Thai boxing to rip up my newly added growth. I'll be drinking loads of water, staying away from sugary and salty foods.. and having a lot of protein. :) *Ryan* 09-08-2005, 09:31 ive got 6 days to go now, and i think ive done pretty well since last time i posted this, ive drunk no alchohol :( my bmi is 23.8 which is pretty much in middle, and i have 17.9% bodyfat, which i could have done better, but had limited time, me is very proud, lifting heavier weights takes its toll though! Shiesh 09-08-2005, 09:49 well done...I am sure you'll look just fine on the beach now !! Hope you keep up the good work even after the holiday as it sounds like you have adopted a much healthier lifestyle and sound much more confident and happy for it in your posting!! You will have to load up a piccy... a before and after shot eh!! *Ryan* 09-08-2005, 10:02 haha yeah man, it jus feels weird tho being al healthy, and expensive in a way, i can surely get u an after pic n describe the before, haha investigator 09-08-2005, 10:37 I've just used Ephedrine (same as Kerry Katona) and got to how I wanted to be in a few weeks. I paid a tenner for 100. "It is important to note that Ephedrine is a drug, and not a nutritional supplement, found in many products including weight loss supplements, energy boosting supplements and fat burners. Ephedrine has similar chemical characteristics to amphetamines, affecting the brain and the central nervous system (CNS). This effect on the CNS and the brain has effects deemed to be beneficial by many athletes including an increased arousal, physical activity and an elevated potential for neuromuscular performance." Strength training is one of the best ways to burn fat *Ryan* 09-08-2005, 13:05 Originally posted by Lucky_13 Strength training is one of the best ways to burn fat why do u say so? Lucky_13 09-08-2005, 13:36 because strength training is the best way to increase the body's basal metabolic rate (the rate at which the body metabolises or burns calories to function) So if youstrength train - especially big muscle groups ie quads in the legs, lattissimus dorsi in the back - You put your body under a big strain and increase the basic metabolic rate for up to 24 hours making it much more efficient at breaking down fat stores in the body and dealing with any subsequent food you eat. Cherry_Pop 09-08-2005, 15:10 Get your self on the Atkins diet!!! Iv been on it a couple of times, when I want to shift a bit of timber! Everytime iv been on it I loose a stone or just under in 2 weeks! Brilliant!:wow: Iv just started it again and been on it a week and already lost 8 pounds!!! They just came on after 2 or 3 days of the diet and continued until I stopped the diet. I had started to see a difference after 7 days, but the pain in my legs just wasn't worth it, I was clearly doing something that my body didn't like. Lucky_13 09-08-2005, 18:12 The atkins diet is DANGEROUS. Anything that can stimulate such rapid weight loss is unsafe. If it is so good why do people keep having to go back on it every few weeks. What you need to do is get practice at eating right all the time. Weight loss should be slow and constant and with a good diet the weight will stay pretty constant give or take a few kilo's. Fad diets are a waste of time - very good in the short term maybe but unsafe and no good in the long run ReginaldD 09-08-2005, 22:00 Get doing some women, opps i mean swimming *Twinkle* 10-08-2005, 06:46 Lol @ ReginaldD :hihi: That's the way to do it! ;) There's definately no lack of enthusiasm for exercise where those matters are concerned lol *Ryan* 10-08-2005, 08:39 Originally posted by ReginaldD Get doing some women, opps i mean swimming i do plenty of that anyway:) sometimes too much, lots of cardiovascular :headbang: GazB 10-08-2005, 08:49 It's all well and good eating well and cutting down your junk food/alcohol intake.. But you still need to burn off what's there. I'm in a decent enough shape, and all I do no running at all.. Infact, I haven't been to a normal gym with treadmills etc for months!! I just go boxing, do alot of skipping, shadow boxing, bag work, sit-ups, press-ups, pull-ups, squats etc etc and I drink plenty of water. I use ephedrine based energy pills during the week which stops me eating for the sake of it, and raises my metabolism so I burn excess fat faster. People that tell you you'll never be in a decent shape if you drink and eat alot talk rubbish... This weekend I had about 3 McD's, a Burger King, a Sunday lunch and a pizza for supper! I also went out on the lash Friday and Saturday! I've been 11 Stone 3 for ages.. So whatever I eat and drink at the weekends get's burnt during the week.. Good enough for me! *Ryan* 10-08-2005, 08:55 Originally posted by GazB It's all well and good eating well and cutting down your junk food/alcohol intake.. But you still need to burn off what's there. They're not, they normal ephedrine. If you go to the Get Physical boxing shop on Eccy Rd and speak to the guy there about fat loss/energy boosting tablets he'll recommend some for you.. I use some called Inferno, very good :) Monkey84 15-12-2005, 17:59 Hi, I've just brought Ephedrine too and i wondered how exactly do I take them? Do I still eat the same ammount or cut back? Sounds silly but I just wanna know how other people got on. Thanks Hollie:confused: Tipex 15-12-2005, 23:21 Dude if ur happy with eating and drinking, dont let others make u feel u have to lose the belly. if you do wanna lose it, just tone up. |
