I have a question guys. I bought a motherboard recently:
Foxconn P45A-S LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard

The memory on it is:
Memory Standard DDR2 1066 (O.C)/800.667

I bought some corsair ddr2 800.
Now if I bought some ram that was 1066 speed would this work just by plugging it into motherboard.
Or do I overclock the 800 RAM that I have?
Not sure how this works exactly. I wanted to get a mobo that could support faster RAM but not quite in my budget.
Any tips?
Thanks,
Travis (Tracid)

If you have 800 ram in, and put 1066 ram in, they MIGHT run at around 950, but the latencys and timings would be different, that is if it works at all which is unlikeley...

over clocking the 800 to 1066 might work, but it could cause system instability, or even kill your ram, especially with the cheaper, not as stable boards like Foxconn's.

you would be better selling the 800 stuff (or keeping as spare) and getting all 1066

So you are saying I could buy ram labeled at 1066, plug it in and it would work on this motherboard? I think I was told differently when I purchased it. That would be great although I Doubt I can return this 800 ram :(

looking at the website, what it means is you can put in 1066 ram, and it will run at 800, you will have to MANUALLY set it to run at 1066 (hence the "** Achieved by overclocking" quoted on the site)
