I have a good friend in KL who's thinking of coming over to the UK on a working holiday - type visa.
Can anybody tell me how easy it is to get these in KL? i know there's plenty of Malay students here in Sheff. Mandarin is her first language.
She's educated, with work experience and good English.
Any suggestions are welcomed. I can look on the internet anytime, but its not nearly as good as getting it 'straight from the horses mouth....'
thanks again.
I have 2 Malaysian housemates who would may able to help (and seem to know half of Sheffield).
We're off out to KL in 3 weeks.
Could try to fit her in my suitcase on way home if I got room? :D
#1 send us a PM if they have any info, if for any reason you'd rather not post it here. Fanx.
Thing is, I've definitely heard that there is a visa available but it's just really hard work trawling through the UK visa websites.
As M'Asia is a member of the Commonwealth its a lot easier for them than say Thais or Vietnamese, but its not really straightforward like it is for Kiwis and Aussies.
#2 haha you'd have to bring an extra large backpack, she's 5'8, pretty tall for a Chinese M'Asian.
Have a good time in KL, get an AirAsia flight out to Borneo if you have time, they only cost something like 15 quid one way.

I did live in KL for a while when I was younger even though I am english myself. I'm not too sure about the visa, but I'd be happy to show your friend around when she gets here and introduce her to some people to make her feel more at home.
I would suggest that she gets in contact with the British High Commision in KL to see if they can help her out :)

I have a friend who got that visa before. From what I've learnt, it isn't that hard to get that visa as long as you have all the proper documents. You'll have to get the information from the British High Commission. The immigration rules are constantly changing these days and it's best to straighten out the facts first. :)
